  1. The pandemic actually was awesome to get me back to reading. Finished around 6 books last year. Currently reading On Liberty by John Stuart Mill. Ahead of its time, and I’m finding it’s quite ahead of today’s time as well.
  2. And there goes my tranquility Deleted the post where my emotive response to being called a “plague rat,” while warranted (imo), just has no place here. Apologies for that. Imagine being called a plague rat while being fully vaccinated
  3. I know you’re coming from a genuine place of concern, but this forum is literally one of my few places of escape from the constant covid debates, political insanity and outright state of governmental fascism in my home country of Canada right now. So while I’d love to go back and forth sending articles and studies showing statistically-negligible rates of transmission between the vaxxed and unvaxxed, and/or the latest data coming out of Israel showing waning efficacy of 4 shots after 6 months, etc., I don’t think I want to continue this on this website any longer. Others are free to take up the mantle. I would rather go back to the state of bliss that football provides — especially as it has only just returned to this state after 14 years of hell.
  4. I should’ve added the caveat there are a handful of professions where age old (not new, thoroughly tested) vaccines are required for employment — wife is a nurse, who is not only fully covid vaxxed but was always up to date on her other vaccinations as well. You have absolutely no idea how many nurses and doctors do not want the covid vaccine, and disagree with the mandates. None. But please, carry on thinking your view is the only one accepted, and that government mandates are the way to go.
  5. Fair enough. There’s enough rhetoric turned up to 11 about all this. We can agree to disagree
  6. Not being able to be employed without being injected is the very definition of coercion. In no other walk of life is it legal to discriminate against anyone from being hired based on their medical status. An employer shouldn’t even be asking your fucking vaccination status.
  7. These people are in a cult, where vaccine status (and mandates) have given them one more thing to feel morally superior about over others. And they don’t care, never have, about basic freedoms which were codified in the Nuremberg Laws (freedom to not have anything put into your body via force or coercion). I’m fully vaxxed as well. And I find it amusing how these people love to bring up politics and vaccine mandates in non-political and non-covid related conversations.
  8. This thread has seemingly gone from "he's averaged double figures every season," "we've just signed a 1 in 3 striker," "... if he just scores the 3 goals he's already scored this season to make it 6 this season," to "i don't care if Wood never scores." Fact is, we badly needed someone who can put the ball into the back of the net. He's not looked threatening in front of goal. I agree not much of a service has been provided for him, but even the crosses that have gone in, he's not attacked them or taken positions in the way that someone like Wilson would have. Or even the way Wood of yesteryear, going by his goals on Youtube, would have. He just looks really out of form and short of confidence. Having said all that, I like him. I do think he's been a handful for defenders, and he's played a probably significant role in us collecting the points we have since he signed. But by that logic, absolutely anyone built like a brick would've been fine. I just hope he scores a couple before end of the season, if only for his own confidence. But as long as we keep picking up points, I'll be happy.

    Joe Willock

He was absolutely brilliant today. Didn’t look too happy to be subbed off, I think Shelvey or Big Jow should have come off instead, but it’s a good sign when a player doesn’t wanna come off.
  10. Same here. What a pickup by Howe. He’s been brilliant so far. Need him signed up, based on his two games with us.
  11. Our touches in the box: 27. Our xG: 0.73. Howe, man, what is this sorcery?
  12. Fucking YES. Willocks best game of the season for us so far. As someone else mentioned, Big Jow is getting muscled out in tight spots in the middle, and maybe time to find some way to bring Bruno into the center today. It’ll hopefully also help with improved final balls going forward.
  13. Early observations: - Willock’s best game in the first half for us so far. He’s been great in the middle and driving forward. - Wood looking a handful, bringing others into play. - We should’ve scored. - I’m still unconvinced by Fraser as an attacking threat. He works hard but needs an assist or improved final ball. - We’ve had 70% possession and 5 shots! When was the last time this happened away from home, in the first half? This is what progress looks like.
