  1. Don’t think the first January window falls off this summer does it? Thought it was next summer.
  2. It’s actually incredibly laughable how far they are willing to go to block us from even getting on an even keel with the established power houses of the sport. At this point I’d sort of understand the club’s backers if they threatened to revive the ESL and just told the FA and PL to do one.
  3. Indeed, pretty much everybody who was at that club when the loan was agreed has since left. Besides, if Kuol was as good as we hope he’d have made a first team berth at Volendam his own. I can see an argument for letting him stay at Newcastle in the U21’s or something, but to think he could have played a role in out first team is quite fanciful based on the evidence of competitive games he’s played since moving here from Australia.
  4. We didn’t know he wasn’t going to play much when we loaned him out did we?
  5. Maybe he should have risen to the occasion in Scotland and Holland instead?
  6. Can see the PL panicking about FFP after the January transfer window farce and potentially now all English teams getting kicked out of European competitions…
  7. To a market where he went, and where many clubs are owned by the same owners as our club. He was undervalued vs what we could have got away with if PIF had wanted to use a loophole. It’s not a difficult concept ffs.
  8. And that was the whole point about the “undervalued” claim…
  9. ASM was undervalued compared to some other deals that were done around the same time for players moving to Saudi clubs though (e.g. Otavio and Malcom both over 50m fees), so the club certainly didn't exactly use a loophole here, and you could in fact argue the opposite, i.e. that they were overly cautious to avoid scrutiny. The fact no other club offered more for ASM is only partly relevant, because no other clubs offered some of the insane fees and wages players went up going for over there, so clearly SA is not your average European league in terms of fees, and also we know that ASM was for years one of the most spectacular wingers in the Premier League, albeit also injury prone. His skill level, age and reputation could have easily commanded a higher fee to a SA club and nobody would have bat an eyelid.
