  1. I'm not so sure. There might be a couple of clubs transitioning but the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea will come back eventually. Missing out on the CL a second season has shades of us in Bobby's last two seasons losing to Partizan then finishing 5th. We've only just recovered.
  2. You're in effect counting on Man Utd and Chelsea remaining shit, with the likes of us and Villa continuing to be held back a bit. Getting CL this year would give you a bit of a head start on 3 of those clubs next season at the very least. Europa League and you're on par.
  3. Patrick van Aanholt scored PSVs 8th goal tonight from a Luuk De Jong assist.
  4. Think when I checked a while back, Beardsley and Allen scored 8-9 pens between them in that 93/94 season. Even a 50% hit rate would have got Cole to close to 40 in the league, 45 total.
  5. The most typically "Newcastle thing" to happen from here would be for us to catch Spurs to finish 5th and miss out on the CL.
  6. 3 wins leaves Chelsea needing 4 wins and a draw from 6 games, West Ham needing to win the last 4, Brighton to win 5 out of 6. Should be enough! 6th would be dreamy.
  7. Starting to get into "3 more wins should get Europe" territory now. Amazing achievement.
  8. Just back in from the Hebburn game. Just didn't fall for them. Hope they do it on Saturday.
  9. Yeah I think Poch will get it right. Think they'll be top 3/4 but think the whole thing is shite that Everton fuck up for a couple of years spending big and it's ruined them, the likes of Chelsea can do the same and they're fine.
  10. Aye, better to have an integration at Newcastle, play in a couple of pre-season games, play for the U21s, train with the first team squad, feel like a Newcastle player. Who knows, it might all just click. Worst case, we've got a better assessment on where he is and where next for him.
  11. I'd keep him half a season then send him out in January based on what we think after viewing him.
  12. Fwiw it's one I think should be classed as onside, but as the law stands, it's not. How isn't it the "other side of the coin" ? People were in uproar about VAR ruling out a goal on Sunday. Here's one where it would have done it's job and disallowed it correctly. As a result of this mistake, Leicester or Ipswich might miss out on Premier League football next season. I was at the Everton game last month, I celebrated the Burn "goal" in real time. I didn't stop celebrating at the time. Was gutted when it was ruled out, but fans can still have that moment.
  13. The flip side of the coin to yesterday. If Ipswich miss out on promotion by a point, that decision has done them. Least the Leeds fans got to celebrate in real time though!
  14. Boro had picked up 20 points from the top 6 going into this match. They really should have been up there.
