I still think relegation is unlikely although a 5 point gap is nothing with 10 matches left to play. I can easily see 6 or 7 points from the remaining fixtures which should be enough for Newcastle to stay up.

That said Newcastle will likely end the season in awful form and there is a history where teams who end the season out of form carry that form into the next season. Watford are the latest example, but their owners have been quick to react. When it happens to Bruce next season, Ashley will cling on to him as long as possible.

It would be funny if Newcastle got relegated on goal difference after all the stick Benitez got for trying to keep it low.

10 games left and we need to get 8pts. A couple of wins would do it, but we have only won one in our last 10 I think? Maybe one win and a handful of draws will be enough, but without goals, even getting a point will be a mission in most games.

No reason why we can't stay up next season with the same brand of awful shite thats gonna keep us up this time - unless we sell ASM , Schar , Dubs

Almost safe. Already excited for the summer's suspicious signings that curry favour with a dodgy agent.

Signings

We'll get a loan or two in due to the summer fakeover, Stevie Bacon will declare himself delighted with the squad until we've lost our first six games when he'll bemoan the lack of quality at his disposal and blame Rafa for not teaching Mike and little egg how to buy players.

8 clean sheets in 29 games isn't bad at all tbf. 18 points from those 8 clean sheets key to the season really. 1 goal in last 5 games = 5 points is a bit radge like

Selling us short. 9 clean sheets from 29 games, 21 points from these 9 clean sheets.

Joys of taking over an extremely well drilled team with a good keeper. Always said it’d be what would keep us up this season.

Annoyingly if we’d have been taken over by an Arteta type I think it could’ve been a Moyes to Martinez type boost.
