Sheffield United vs Newcastle United - 12/1/21 - 6pm (Live on Sky)

Well I don't think we will lose to Sheffield United so I probably won't have to give it any real thought. Despite how poor we look, at the moment - and throughout the entirety of Bruce's tenure - we're still averaging three wins in every ten games.

Take any selection of 'last ten games' throughout his time here, we average 3.2 wins and 12.4 points. I really fail to see us departing from that sort of 'consistent inconsistency'. We play abysmal football and we occasionally get hammered. But most of the time, we stay in games just long enough for us to pinch just enough points. Be it through our exceptional goalkeepers, disciplined defenders or one very potent striker - we'll always have just enough.

I suppose if we lost to Sheffield United, thereby equalling our worst run of form under Bruce (six without a win), I might start to think twice. But I don't think we will. Even a draw wouldn't be the 'worst result in the world' when your aspirations are of 15th. But I think we'll win.

Never mind he should be gone if we lose, he should be gone if they score.

0-0

The only way he would be gone was if we'd just had 3-4 battering . Hes here for a while yet, lose this and hes still very secure in his job , no way he is under pressure yet .You just know it.

Think we're the team that's most suited for them to get their first win. Despite how shambolic they've been this season, we'll let them play and get into the game.  We've no intensity about us at all, we can't keep the ball so won't be able to open them up at all and expose their dire defensive.

Gravy Boat will play 5 across the back again, and launch balls up to Wilson all evening that'll make Chris Basham look like VVD.

Shelvey will be back in, and Berge/Fleck will run rings around him, with any one of Hendrick/Longstaffs/Hayden next to him chasing shadows and shuffling around 5 seconds behind play. Usual fare from Joelinton, playing like he's on LCD.

Two Championship wingers (Ritchie/Murphy) at wing backs. Bruce will probably drop Clark for Arsenal mistake, so can see Hayden having to play back there, with Lascelles back in. Schar dropped.

Us not losing will be again down to the usual combination of blind luck, Darlow, and the centre backs getting in the way of everything.

Schar and Ferandez both missing the Arsenal game would suggest they'll both be back in for this, unless there's a fitness issue I'm missing. Lascelles was obviously fucked by half-time yesterday so you wouldn't expect him to start again here.

Honestly, it could be anything, the only thing I know for sure is that it'll be an insult to the game of football, two horrific sides too scared to do anything, letting their keepers do all the forward passing and a pair of midfields playing grenade football

Most deserving match of a no score draw, both sides deserving to lose but one side could nick it with a moment of "magic".

No way does Anderson start this. He'll be an unused sub at most, wouldn't shock me if he's not even on the bench. Dusty Bingefield will go for tired and tested, Joelinton, Hendrick, S Longstaff etc.

Would actually give Shelvey a game against these. We need as many creative players as possible and with wilsons movement I think the two could work well together.

Poor defensively of course but when he wants to this lad can play some defense splitting passes.
