  1. He also said something about cans with vodka in February... Chelsea game is Feb 13 I think...
  2. Aside from the goal the only other good bit was this commercial on fox soccer channel Newcastle Brown Ale: "Brewer"
  3. That's the one - the one where all the best footballers go. The rugby team was better than the football team when I went there in the mid 80's...
  4. Its Columbus day here in the US on Oct 12. But that means nowt. Wall St was still trading and the banks were open today - I walked in a deposited a cheque. I'm calling it like it is.. BS.. It was a bank holiday. Some banks just stayed open for their customers, but the federal reserve which is the back bone of the banking system was closed along with the government. Nothing official could be completed today. Its a federal holiday. Federal govt closed, bond markets were closed but the banking system continued. On Wall St the DJ 100 industrials closed near to 10,000 (see http://money.cnn.com/2009/10/12/markets/markets_newyork/index.htm?postversion=2009101218). Out in the street, people filled their cars with gas, stores sold goods and there was generally nothing much different from a regular Monday. Given all those financial transactions the fed has to settle these and there's no "don't settle" on a federal holiday rule in the ACH book I've studied. Regardless of the state of the US federal govt, why would a US federal holiday stop a charitable organization or hedge fund or whatever SS has up his sleeve from announcing anything about a venture in the UK? THe statement about a bank holiday is convenient, but it doesn't pass a reasonableness test. Pure hogwash!

  6. I found it even more odd that I couldn't see a thread on TTastic when I looked in earlier. The thread on Toontastic can be found at: http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?showtopic=25164

    Talents

You make a point about getting kids in and 'missing out' on first team recruits. However your analogy of Sherman tanks may not be the best if you knew that Sherman tanks were effective by outnumbering the opposition.. In fact the performance was good in North Africa and then it was completely outclassed against the 'big guns' of the day eg Panzers and Tigers...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M4_Sherman). Sherman tanks sounds more like an analogy for buying crap foreigners or championship players?
  8. I thought speed was signed by Dalglish and therefore never played for keegan?
  9. It used to be the Civil Service Squash Club. I went there lots of times as a kid with my Dad who played squash there. I remember it being pretty basic even for a squash club in the late 70's / early 80's.
  10. It was in the US - on Fox Soccer Channel.
  11. Converting kids to "soccer" isn't the biggest challenge - its huge here in southern california. Its keeping them interested long enough to get through the pull of high school football (best athletes get "persuaded to play football") and giving them options to play after they get older. Also don't think its likely - compare winter in LA to winter in Newcastle? What do you think Posh will say to that?
  12. Keegan in 82 against QPR. I think he scored 2. Like Mick said build up was great. Couldn't get a ticket so had to make do with Match of the Day later that night..

    The Final Run In

At the moment we are "joint 6th" if the following rule is used: "7. Subject to Rule B.29, if any 2 or more Clubs have scored the same number of points, have the same goal difference and have scored the same number of goals in League Matches in that Season they shall be deemed to occupy the same position in the table." What happens at the end of the season if two clubs are level on goal difference and goals scored? Who goes into UEFA? source: http://www.premierleague.com/fapl.rac?command=setSelectedId&nextPage=enSpecFeatures&id=3304&type=com.fapl.website.features.SpecialFeature&categoryCode=CompetitionExplained&breadcrumb=
