Other clubs’ stadiums

It needs improving, facilities wise it's poor compared to what the other big clubs can offer.  Having to knock down a shopping mall and few other things for it.

All these new class stadiums being built/ upgraded is a bit grim IMO. Losing the individuality and uniqueness of the historic stadiums they're replacing

This. Absolutely gutted to hear the news about the San Siro aswell

Presume food/beer is ridiculously expensive at the New White Heart Ground?

No there is a Microbrewery from Beavertown for £5 pint.  Really good value for London.  And £5 for pint piss at SJP

Absolutely no need whatsoever to drink in SJP when there's fuck knows how many pubs within a stone's throw.

And I bet people said the same thing years ago when their club got a new stadium or were upgrading the old one too. These new stadiums will in some years become "unique" as well, until they need upgrading and old farts will start complaining again that their club is losing its soul.

Only just noticed that they're not calling it White Hart Lane..... just Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

They are flogging the naming rights.

Well that's a bit better, albeit a shame.

Depends, it might end up being "The Sports Direct Arena"

Would you sell the naming rights to your stadium if it gave you a 20-30m player a season? Or funded a training ground in 1 year? Paid for renovation of SJP?

We've been down this road before.  I might be tempted if our owner wasn't Mike Ashley.  Ashley being owner means the stadium would be named after one of his brands and the club itself wont see a penny.

Yes, money talks.  Though you'd never get that amount for an existing stadium.

Yeah. It's a shame, but that's the nature of the game at the elite level now, and ultimately it's a reasonable price to pay to remain competitive. You don't lose the heritage all of a sudden and those who matter would still call it SJP. Obviously, the scenario you've described isn't what was happening when the stadium was renamed the Sports Direct Arena.

I think we lose our right to whinge about what a commercial non-entity we've become (in comparison to the teams we were close to prior to Ashley's arrival) if we're vehement against massive commercial opportunities like stadium name rights. Not that that opportunity exists, of course.
