I’m actually baffled he’s managed to pick so many defensive minded players against a team who haven’t won a game. Twitter seems to be focusing on 5 at the back rather than the complete lack of any forward thinking players bar Fraser and Wilson.

You don't need creative players, Bruce will be thinking a few long punts, one of them might drop right for Callum Wilson, or we might score from a set piece. Percentage football FTW.

Sheff Utd, championship team, certain to go down, possibly with the lowest points total in history, haven’t won a league game this season and it’s January....are favourites to win tonight.

Let that sink in.

I'm certainly not in the business of defending that pillock but I'm a bit surprised by the backlash. We play five at the back all the time, don't we? It's not necessarily the line-up which is defensive, it's the gameplan. 3-5-2 doesn't have to be defensive, but of course it will be 5-4-1. But who exactly are we lamenting the absence of? Matty Longstaff? Almiron? The latter is a wing-back these days anyway.

Cannot believe how negative that team is. He's absolutely shat his pants

The Sheffield United team is pretty positive too. Norwood, Lundstram and Fleck are some of their more forward thinking midfielders that did well for them last season.

Wilder is going for blood.

Redknapp has shifted from "he's done a great job" to "he's done a reasonable job". They are struggling to defend him.

He watched us a lot under Rafa and we played exactly the same football.............nee the wonder that bonny lass left him.

Lardarse came in and kept the back 5 Rafa had, once Bruceball had finally eroded any lasting competence Rafa had instilled he moved to a four.

Then back to a 541 against the big sides, now seemingly every side is bigger and better, so we're keeping the back five it seems.

We've been playing it so much now, it's obvious what he sees the players as most used to - so has become his default set-up.

Just shows he has no clear 'philosophy' other than throwing enough shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. His bollocks about changing the way we play is utter bollocks in the positive sense - there has been no improvement whatsoever. He hasn't changed the way we play at all, only eroded what Rafa had, now we've been the same clueless XI individuals in baring 1 or 2 games since early last season
