  1. Just speculating here...but won't Chelsea be one of the main losers under FIFA's new loan anti-stockpiling measure? It might come in for July 2022. They're looking to limit overseas loans at 8 from this year, 7 the next year, finally 6 the following year. Chelsea have around 22 players out on loan - not sure of how many of those count (many are probably under-21's or domestic loans). Just wondering if they're going to need to dump quite a few players on the market quite quickly.
  2. Perhaps it's where Howe wants to get to...the Bournmouth average crossing stats per 90 mins (from the Athletic): 2015-16 16.2 2016-17 15.5 2017-18 15.9 2018-19 16 2019-20 14.5
  3. What a wonderful day. Too early for cans? SB: "...that I was useless, a fat waste of space, a tactically inept cabbage head"
  4. Interesting write-up on Howe, sounds canny to me: https://bournemouth.vitalfootball.co.uk/the-highs-and-highs-of-howe-at-bournemouth/amp/
  5. MoneyMikeAshley is back... "Premier League have informed FCDO that they expect to release a statement in next few hours on the sale of Newcastle United. This will confirm that PL, NUFC, and St James Holding ltd have today settled the dispute over takeover of the club by consortium."

    Kevin Keegan

Yeah, that's a terrific article, thanks for posting it. Can highly recommend Keegan's autobiography for more of that type of stuff - I was hoping for Ashley to have gone/takeover before starting it, but gave in last week and am really enjoying it, currently reading about KK's early days at Liverpool. Fascinating, lots of insight about the influences that shaped him into such an incredible and inspirational manager.
  7. Yeah, just theorised it hints at a possible timeline. Assuming MMA shut up because of impending legal action, that might indicate a rough start date for this kicking off...PL rules are that both sides then have 14 days to each appoint arbitrator, another 14 days to appoint a 3rd arbitrator (the chair), another 14 days for directions of conduct, and the chair then sets a date for the tribunal. So, we're possibly quite far into that process. Would assume PL are dragging it out, given the latest NUFC statement.
  8. The Money Mike Ashley account went into radio-silence back on 30th Oct...just saying...
  9. Crimes against intelligence. Basically, Ben (erm...banned from the BBC for gross misconduct) Jacobs was proving just how far modern journalism has fallen. Claimed that NCSL had leaked the info that NUFC has started proceedings against PL. Just two things wrong with that: 1) Any confidentiality agreement will be between the PL and NUFC (think it's actually in the PL rules). The fact is, PL/their lawyers were the ones to breach that by mentioning it to NCSL. NCSL simply aren't bound by it. 2) NCSL say the letter they received was leaked (presume this was Ben's flurry of tweets the other day...) Anyway, Ben is just deflecting, somehow forgetting the amount of agenda-driven info he tweets from his PL source.
  10. The letter lazily appended to the Gazette article is an old one from 6 August 2020. Think it can be disregarded now - the strategy appears to have moved on a bit since that initial effort (EDIT: actually, looks like that letter was appended deliberately...am not sure why Liam Kennedy thinks it's still relevant) Would hazard a guess that old letter was put together by Gordon Stein well before this latest (probable DeMarco) idea of going after the PL via the Competition Appeal Tribunal process. Lots of conflicting info about this CAT process being put out there - there's a useful FAQ on the tribunal's website, so you can get an idea of the possible timescales: "How long does the process take? Cases before the Tribunal often raise complicated issues and may involve a significant number of parties so it may be difficult to know at the outset how long a particular case will last. However the Tribunal does seek to manage the cases tightly and, in general aims, to complete “straightforward” cases in less than nine months. A claim for damages brought pursuant to Section 47A of the 1998 Act may be subject to the fast-track procedure (“FTP”). The FTP is a particular procedure intended to enable less complex claims to be brought, in particular by individuals and small businesses, and decided quickly with limited risk as to costs. In any case subject to the FTP, the final hearing will be fixed to take place as soon as practicable and in any event within six months." My own interpretation of what's being played out here is that DeMarco knows there's some incriminating evidence in the PL docs, something that the PL won't want to reveal. The threat being made clear to the PL is that this process would be a (relatively) quick way to start the ball rolling on uncovering it.
