  1. There is definitely something going on. How advanced it is or will ever get is the issue. It’s clear Ashley will only sell if he “wins” the deal. That’s why it’s been 10 years. No one has agreed to his terms. This current one could be near final stages. I would, say the “leak” that Ashley is so furious about came from him in some way. He uses it as a last minute negotiation tactic to squeeze any extra out of the deal. If he can’t get it then it collapses and he blames leaks and buyers not having a pot to piss in. There is no way we get a clean break. He will want sponsorship deals for a certain amount of time. Or to still have the club shop as an SD shop. Or who knows what else. Someone will have to give in to his demands somewhat and we will have to deal with his fat ghost hanging around for several years after any sale. Which I would gladly take in the long run. When you come to big business and big deals you get a lot of egos. Not many would be willing to give up anything. So until someone is willing to do that or he needs to sell because it’s costing him a lot of money then he stays.

    Sunderland

Did you have a stroke while typing that?
  3. Best thing that could happen really. Well other than a real takeover. Once this one plays out it will just dishearten more fans and push them away. Fakeover ploys have worked in the past but after the last one I just don’t see it working anymore. They will have to come up with a new tactic to ease the unrest.
  4. Yeah I don’t see how staying in the championship will help sell the club. He will try and buy his way out like he has the last 2 times. Lumping the club with more and more debt to him. Which will make it less and less attractive to potential buyers. I understand the reasoning behind the relegation thought but I just don’t see it happening. Unless we do a Sunderland and drop right through the leagues. Even then I can see him running us tight enough to not cost him too much money and still working his way back up the leagues. The only way I see him leaving is mass desertion of the club and the media turning against him. Coupled with shite direct and his other businesses coming under financial pressure. To me the media is one of the biggest problems. So many apologists spouting shit all over the place which the common football fan hoovers up without question. Need strong consistent anti Ashley message from the media to get the hate going to the masses.
  5. First game under new coach with new system and tactics so not that unexpected. Plus we just aren't that good. Struggled to qualify. That was enough proof to show that we are in a definite decline. Not many players doing much in top leagues. Doesnt seem to be any good youngsters coming through either. We will show up for the World Cup and play better than expected but we are a long way from where we should be. I’m expecting us to go pointless and a real chance of going goalless. Therefore, anything more is playing better than expected. As long as it isn't a flogging every game I'll be happy.
