Crystal Palace 2-0 Newcastle United (24/04/24) | Reaction: pg 34

Poor performance but they were really good I think. We had quite a few average to poor players out there tonight and we couldn’t overcome that. -

So you’re telling me there’s a transfer window approaching and the club have briefed the press that they have little to spend? Interesting.

I’ve been really, really confused by this talk about him. I don’t watch other teams that much so what do I know? But I saw him come on as a sub against us last season when we beat them at SJP and he was appallingly bad.

No it doesn't. It's a sample size of one, for which there is an elephantine mitigating factor. It was this assertion that led to me assuming you were using the word 'somehow' in good faith.

He just meant he’s fast man you absolutely fannies -
The last time we finished 2 consecutive seasons in the top 6 was 2 decades ago. Has us within 6 games of it despite all of the challenges this season and what he inherited. Would be a remarkable achievement.

Absolutely class game to be there with the boy. We always walk out past the away fans as he likes the atmosphere. As our fans were singing ‘it’s a long way back to London when you’re shit’ I looked down at him and he was looking back with a ridiculously smug grin -
I think a lot of us are understandably scarred by past approaches to selling players and also the way players saw the club. That’s not the case now though, we’re a legitimate club challenging for CL places. Yeah, we’ve had a down year, but it’s not like we’ve been in a relegation fight. Players who like being here aren’t necessarily going to be desperate to leave because of one season of terrible luck. As long as we’re ambitious we have a good chance of retaining him.

If Tripps leaves it’s a no brainer IMO. If he stays though I think it’s captain Tripps.
