  1. His betting appears to have stopped when the investigation began so any ban above what he's got currently would be absurd
  2. Maybe you are right but it clearly appears to be a specialist role and Ross hasn't shown he can operate at that level yet Granted he's had some mentoring from Ashworth but that isn't the same as doing the job and having to deal with the various departments I know Brighton did something similar to what you're suggesting by appointing David Weir but they were seemingly much further along in their journey when Ashworth left in comparison to Ashworth leaving us
  3. You want Jack Ross to be given the role of Sporting Director?
  4. It was voted for 10 or so years ago and a big chunk of the clubs are no longer in the Premier League I do wonder if enough clubs got together now whether they would be able to abandon FFP/PSR all together, though I suspect you won't get the 14 votes needed
  5. Aware of the Salah situation)apparently Mane too) but that model is similar to what we have If Klopp said no would Salah have been signed? Not a chance
  6. Is there any club that operates in such a way where signings are done irrespective of the manager/coach? Not sure one exists What you say sounds ideal but in practical terms it doesn't really work I think the sensible approach is the one Ashworth spoke about, the traffic light system, where head of scout, sporting director and manager all have to give the green light for a transfer to go ahead That way you can maintain a distinct playing style and also the manager doesn't have a player given to him he has no interest in
  7. He should have a very large say in transfer business but he shouldn't have the only say, and there is no suggestion that is the case
  8. That's a completely separate issue, he's admitted Longstaff is playing through an injury and I don't doubt other players will play through slight niggles I'm specifically referring to this Botman injury, medical staff and Botman have given the all clear, what should Howe do? Just drop him until he agrees to surgery?
  9. At the time he made his "recovery" I immediately had reservations about not opting for surgery, the moment any form of ACL tear/rupture was seen I would have thought surgery was necessary, resting it and going again seemed like a ticking time bomb If someone as unqualified as me felt it was inevitable not sure why others didn't, though admittedly as an unqualified person on this subject matter I recognise I probably talking rubbish To me there are certainly questions to be asked of eirher the physios or medical department or even both. His interview at the end of last year was alarming when he said he played a couple of games before it was discovered What I do find utterly insane is anyone trying to blame Howe, unless of course your criticism is Howe should have done more by becoming qualified as a physio/doctor and more specifically specialising in knees, if that's your criticism then crack on If your criticism is that Howe played him after the professionals alongside Botman were satisfied with the action taken then you clearly are a doylem and it would just be best to admit you dislike Howe and you want to blame him for everything. Can you imagine Howe saying to Botman "I understand you feel fine and the scans show the all clear and doctors say you are good to carry on but I've made the decision we are going to operate on your knee", is that really what people are suggesting? Mental
  10. I think a lot of the annoyances/frustrations with offsides is when the armpit/knee is fractionally offside. Whilst this new law resolves that, to me it's an excessive solution to the problem. Instead we'll see ludicrous goals where a player is "well ahead" of the defender and the goals will stand. The obvious resolution is to base it on feet only, that way a player leaning or in the case of the Bamford goal that was disallowed a player pointing isn't deemed to be offside.
  11. I agree with those that say Bruce is definitely worse than Pardew. However, can't get on board with anyone trying to suggest Pardew wasn't that bad. He was, he just happens to be behind a bloke that was much worse. I think time is a bit of a healer in that sense and his time seems far away whereas Bruce's stench is still being seen. And I'm probably about to contradict myself and give Pardew a bit of a pass, his slight redeeming qualities is that he hasn't slagged us off since and didn't use his media pals to create a false narrative around us. Bruce was shit the way he joined us, whilst he was here and then since he left starting with that piece by Luke Edwards which created a media pile on making us out to be like some utter savages. I can't see time being a healer where Bruce is concerned, will forever remain a scumbag and if anything, the disdain for him grows with every podcast/interview he does.
  12. That's my point, we know it's not really about sustainability but within the rules they broke them, it's as simple as that They should have bought a player or two less if they weren't confident of staying within their limits
  13. I don't care for FFP/PSR and other such protectionist racket but that's a terrible defence
  14. Maddison only had a year left on his contract, that was the 'distress sale' discount Barnes had 2 years left, if he only had a year we would have gotten him for less
  15. If it goes to penalties Onana ain't saving anything
