"He got promotion twice, as a player with us and then as a manager, and if he could win a trophy third time around, it would be absolutely magnificent. "When I say a trophy, I don't expect us to win the Premier League in the next year. Once the situation became apparent that there was a chance he would get the job, I don't think there was much thinking needed from his point of view. "He just had a great knack of coming into the dressing room or training ground and just giving everybody a lift. He could give people great motivation, great belief in their own ability. "After speaking to him for five minutes you'd come away thinking 'He's right, I am a good player, I can do that' and you'd have a lot more confidence in your own ability. "He'd do that to you individually as well as doing it to the team as a whole. We'd go out on match days and feel as though we could beat anyone. "His all-round enthusiasm and desire was infectious, and that rubbed off on the lads around him. "One thing is for sure, he will get them believing in themselves and will get the dressing room to be a happy place." David Ginola "There have been so many managers and players involved at Newcastle. "They sign and then run away after a few months or a year. "A club needs stability. "If you don't have any stability within your organisation then you don't bring confidence to everyone. "From the chairman, to the manager to the players, you must bring this kind of stability and that will bring you success. "If every year you are playing with two, three or four different players and you have a new manager then you have to start again. "Most of the clubs that are successful are the ones that have stability. "The responsibility on the shoulders of Kevin Keegan from now on will be tremendous. Yes, because you were totally certain that Keegan would take the job prior to it happening and I'm sure were shouting for his appointment from the rooftops?
