  1. Aye, he definitely had my backing. He bought himself a ‘poor’ season after last year, and it’s been very hard to get anything going due to the amount of injuries we’ve had. I’m sure I read Isak and Wilson have only been in the same squad (in the league) 4 times or something. However, he’s definitely reactive. I actually think his in game management is his weakest point. I think his subs often leave a lot to be desired and does seem to be unable to diverge from one way of playing. That being said I still absolutely love the bloke. He made me fall back in love with Newcastle United again. If anyone’s going to deliver us success, I’d want it to be him. Sadly, I don’t think he will be.
  2. Absolutely this. I actually think it’s since they won the league. He doesn’t do it (as much), but there was a period in time when he would just be the most condescending, smug wanker in post-match interviews when the reporter would ask him a simple question. Cant wait to see the back of him and hoping they have a bit of a dip for a few years. Horrible bunch of bastards. Constantly trying to get people sacked on Twitter and that. The irony of them whinging about being robbed after what happened last week at Forest too. Fuck them.
  3. Any manager with a bit about them wouldn’t touch that job with a shitty stick. As much as lots of us will deny it, but they’re a big enough club to attract a decent name. They’re a decent draw, no doubt about that. However, I think (could be wrong but won’t be by much) this is their 21st manager in 19 years. Why would another manager look and think ‘I’ll be the one to sort this shit’. Only Allardyce left willingly, didn’t he? Been a few different owners in that time too. Would suggest that the problem lies at the club rather than anything else. People are quick to rightfully hammer Watford for their turnover of managers but these fuckers won’t be too far behind. It’s absurd how many they get through.
  4. We should give that Edwards whatever package he wants if Ashworth leaves. Though, given he turned down a return to Liverpool and probably Man Utd, I'd be shocked.
  5. Glad to see the back of him. Like others have said, top manager and a decent bloke off the pitch (at times). His touchline antics, his elitist mentality, the way he condescends and is just outright rude to reporters when things aren't going his way has shown what he is like when the mask slips. The next 4 months will be sickening mind - the scousers will go on like he's died or something.
  6. I might be well off here, but I'm pretty sure there's generally an obligation to the manufacturer to wear the change kits a certain number of times in a season. Also love us in the black and white with the white shorts. Memories of the 1-4 and Champions League nights this season. Class.
  7. I've seen him once and that was in the flesh on Saturday. Hard judge, given their team wasn't up to much on the day. Our right side of Trippier, Longstaff & Almiron has nullified much better players than Clarke so hard to be too harsh on him based on that game. Clearly a talented boy, but for every Bowen there's a Lewis-Potter. It would be ludicrous for somebody to spend anything north of probably £15m on him, with the potential of a few performance clauses or something. That's not to say he won't go on to have a good career at a higher level than he's playing at now, just talk of £30m seems madness.
  8. Aye I was in the top and it was sound. Though I do admit I’ve been part of much better atmospheres over there, by some distance.
  9. Naturally was a lot more confident when the draw was made. We definitely should have enough for them, but given they'll be frothing at the mouths, barking at our players from minute one, we need to be very careful. I'll go with (and would take) a score draw, then do the fuckers at home.
  10. He's been great. Like really good. He doesn't give it away, but he doesn't try to make killer passes - yet. That will come in time, I'm pretty sure he's just trying to keep it as neat and tidy as possible now. There's absolutely nowt better than seeing a local lad doing well either. Having Longstaff, Burn, Anderson & Miley in the squad can only be good for the club long term (especially on the first weekend in January too...).
  11. Nah. It'll be more or less the strongest team, pending injuries. I think Howe will want this one. He will know he can't be having a loss to this lot, especially given the relative gap between the two sides. Full strength and hopefully put it to bed early in the game. Then we can rotate. Still wish it wasn't happening mind
  12. Actually really fancy Villa tonight. City having that inevitable pre-Christmas wobble (if you can call it that) where everyone questions them, before they rattle off 12 consecutive wins from Feb onwards to win the league.
  13. There's no way we should be rotating/resting anyone for this game. We owe these bastards one. Go full strength and fuck them. That being said, if we do beat Chelsea, I'm not sure Howe will think the same way. It's obviously hugely important to 90% of us, but to him - derby or not - he will likely see it as a early cup game against a side in the lower leagues, and pick his team accordingly. I'm nervous though. A combination of not knowing who will be back for us, what sort of team we will play, the fact they've beaten us a lot in recent years and our FA Cup record being tragic recently. It definitely has the makings of a banana skin, although if we play anywhere close to our 'peak' (Spurs/Man U from April) we should really be absolutely fucking these into 2025. I do absolutely wish it was at home though.
  14. I can see arguments both sides for the new away system to be fair. I know a few lads who've been able to go to away games and actually increase their points tally (obviously slightly) this season already, rather than someone with 1/200 getting pointless points. Also know lads who missed out because those getting them a ticket are scared of losing points.
  15. Dodgy game this. Draw wouldn't be the end of the world given how stretched we are.
