'Brexit leader' Nigel Farage blaming Merkel 'allowing 1M unchecked immigrants' into Europe on Fox News.

Just told my daughter he was probably born in Britain. Why do people jump to these conclusions before knowing the facts?

The arrangements we have with the EU over border security have stopped guns and explosives being brought into this country. We would be much worse without.

Was the unsuccessful attack on Glasgow airport.

Before that there was a suicide bombing in Exeter but the guy accidentally blew himself up on the toilet.

Watching the videos on the BBC site, the one of everyone running down the stairs and the parents waiting for their kids to come out, absolutely mortifying.

We clearly need to be doing more to engage with these mentally ill, suicidal people. Mental health needs a massive, sustained, well funded programme to try and fix this problem at the root. As others have said, you just can't stop these events if people want to do it. We need to stop them wanting to do it.

It was only a matter of time before they got Manchester, we all knew it would happen, and so did the police with their training exercises at Old Trafford (bomb scare last year was a result of that) and Trafford Centre, plus services had actually managed to stop a planned shooting at Arndale Centre.

I stayed away from the Christmas markets last year for that very reason.

I suppose the Manchester Arena is very limited in terms of the number of exit routes so would also make a good target, especially after Paris.

I'm really shocked at this. I'm over that way a fair bit and know a lot of folk over that way so it has really hit home to me.

I cant get my head around why this particular concert. Why Ariana Grande? I know it's probably not the time to rationalise it but you can't help but wonder as you see the news.

Awful this.

As for the above, pretty obvious, high impact, high profile, good demographic to target for maximum fear (kids) and a bonus that it'll hit both sides of the Atlantic because she's American.

Something like this is a long time in the planning. It's not done on a whim but I suspect it's viewed as a huge success in Islamist circles in terms of impact/PR and that we'll see more of this now.

The key is to prevent at source because you can't mitigate everything. You legimately cannot prevent crowds of people be it at a concert, a theatre, a football match, shopping malls or whatever.

What they've done is identify the weak point. Exit or outside. So simple yet actually quite horrifyingly intelligent.
