iertutil.dll error

My housemate is running XP, her computer won't start up at the moment due to an "iertutil.dll error". I'm not much chop with computers etc, but apparently it's possible to download a fix for this, transfer it on USB and open it using task manager. Has anybody had a problem like this before, or have a link to a safe download fix for this? Cheers in advance.

I wouldn't be downloading the file from the web at all, it may not even be a missing file.

I think what she was planning to download was not the file itself, but some sort of registry repair tool. The download sites look a little dodgy to me for whatever reason though, and given she was going to download on to my computer before transferring across I'm just a little cautious.
