It was 20 years ago today...

"I took the decision to resign in September 2008 only after very careful and anxious consideration. The decision to resign was one of the most difficult decisions that I have ever had to take in my life. I believe that anybody who knows me and my attachment to Newcastle United and the North East in general will understand how difficult this must have been. I very much hope that the decision of the Tribunal now confirms why I felt that I had no option but to resign from the position as Manager of the Club that I love."- Kevin Keegan speaking on 02/10/2009

Wow...that long. Look how old fashioned the cars look.

Epic time
Players come and go, managers come and go, chairman come and go, and even stadiums come and go. But we, the fans, are always here and always will be. We are the lifeblood of this club and our ownership is in our hearts. Nobody can take that away from us!

the old S&N brewery.
Bullshitters misrepresent themselves to their audience not as liars do, that is, by deliberately making false claims about what is true. In fact, bullshit need not be untrue at all.

Rather, bullshitters seek to convey a certain impression of themselves without being concerned about whether anything at all is true. They quietly change the rules governing their end of the conversation so that claims about truth and falsity are irrelevant.

In 1992, was there any celebration of 100 years of club? Match or something?

Still unbelievable when you think that only 4 and a half years after that photo we broke the world record transfer fee.

Basically the club was saved from extinction that day

Missed it at the match, didn't even see Tiote running towards us.. I was facing the other way shaking the handlebars in a blokes mobility scooter behind me as we were screaming at each other
turned around to see them all lying on the deck.

SJH thought that Keegan's appointment might be just enough of a boost for the players and fans that, with a little luck, we could survive that season.  He didn't believe that Keegan would be successful in the longer term and was probably one of the most surprised when it turned out that Keegan was more than a short-term gimmick.

Aah, Darren McDonagh was next through the doors, what a player he was.
I asked for a Sprite in my local Conservative club.
