not many people throughout history can impact a sport, and indeed the world, in the way Ali did during his time

people throw legend around for all kinds of bland unineteresting c***s these days, when they do i find it almost an insult to the likes of Ali who is truly worthy of such a name
I made it my quest to seek out and listen to all the great British bands from years gone by to see for myself. What I found was that although all these other legendary British bands were f***ing great, the difference was that they had in my opinion nowhere near the quantity of good songs that Oasis have. Even the Beatles.

nasty man acted nasty - wonder how many of the great heavyweights (or indeed any weight) you could look at and say the same type of thing?

Ali was the first time I ever heard a boxer being called an Athlete (in the modern sense)Just so graceful and I remember when he came here.  He was a ferkin' Adonis.

Well, give me some names if you think you can substantiate a stupid stereotype probably perpetuated by Mike Tyson.

The point is, Ali may not have been universally loved but he was certainly admired by men of both colours, and he was in a strong position to bring both together, and to assist in the fight against mainstream racism.

And what did he do? He went on TV and said that Joe Fraizer 'works for the enemy' simply because a lot of his sponsors were white businessmen. He even repeated it on English TV.  And just look at some of his comments in that Bunce article. Ali deserves huge admiration what he did inside the ring but outside of it he did more harm than any other fighter I can think of.

Joe Louis was sparked clean out in 3 rounds in his prime by Max Schmeling, so no he isn't the greatest. The only one who you could say was as great than Ali is Marciano. But his style wasn't anywhere near as eye pleasing as Ali in his prime.
I asked for a Sprite in my local Conservative club.

I was given a small green vegetable.

Don't know where you've dreamt that up from, like. Joe Louis is the greatest.

Fact: Joe Louis was knocked out in 12 rounds by Schmeling, not 3 as I said...in his prime...greatest of greats don't get kayoed in their prime. I must have ignored 9 rounds in my dream.

Same reason Lennox Lewis cannot be considered as the best.

Wasn't in his prime during that bout, either. And anyone could've been knocked out by Max Schmeling.

As it happened, Louis fought him in a rematch and KOd him one round. Louis was a warrior, and truly the greatest HW ever.

Same with Lennox. A defeat doesn't lessen your case for greatness; it strenghtens it when you come back and knock out that guy.
