SJP- May 23rd onwards
« on: Monday 28 February 2011, 01:50:21 PM »
Me mate that organised our "works" game last year (Dan), has just received a letter saying the same thing is on this year, with dates of 23rd May on, for two weeks.

I havent got all the info off him yet, but seems prices are similar, £2500 for two teams, changing rooms, scoff after etc

I know Semtex organised it last year for NO, a few of us played both our work game and the NO game.

Well worth it!!!

Please book it as early as possible.   The pitch was in a horrible condition last time by the time we played.

Actually, on that note whatever position Slim plays for NOFC, make sure he can take alot of shots, nearly broke my hand with one in warmup,  I took some shots of Steve Bowey (ex Bristol City, I think he took their set pieces) and Slims had far more venom in them.  Don't think I've experienced such a powerful strike before.

What let last year's experience down as the guy who was the 'match day official'. Not the Ref, but the guy with the clipboard. Always in a rush, not really caring that anyone had paid a good bit of money for an experience. Not considering that perhaps those people out there wanted to take their time and soak in the event.  :thdn:

Aye, they got their times wrong. We were told we were booked for the 6.30-8.30 slot but when we mooched round there around 6 were told it was 6-8 and we had to be out the changing rooms by 7.30 as somebody wanted to go home. Some people couldn't get there till 6.30 so we had no time to warm up or anything.

Also I think we had too many players. Should have limited it to squads of 13 rather than 15. If we are going to do it again this year I'm definitely in, but I'm not having owt to do with team selection. Too much like hard work.

Quite!

It seems that I heard of various other people actually paying less than what we paid, as if there were leeway for some unknown reason. Worth a try if you guys get round to doing it this year.

Can't do before the 26th/27th but can do after that probably, approximate cost?

Was £80-per-person last year. And worth every penny.

I think the afternoon slots are/were slightly cheaper, ie during normal work time.

evening and weekends a bit more.

The game us lot at work played the day before the NO game was an early one, about 1230 KO time and they never rushed us at any point tbh.

Agreed with MKSC, nightmare trying to sort teams, subs, hissy fits etc. lol

There is the option of just having one group of 15 and the club then match you up against another group?

Tall Striker would like to put his name in for it, only if it can be before the 28th of May.

I know this will be over subscribed. How will you decide on players?

Based on appearances for NOFC?

1st Come 1st Served has to be.  Can't rely on people saying they will play and then don't pay.

Same fears were expressed last year, in the end there were 1 or 2 places that only got confirmed in the week leading up to it.

Same fears were expressed about NOFC matches and people using that as a justification for not turning up and getting involved, there's always room.

:)
They keep saying their strategy will take several years to implement, I accept this and realise that in the future we may be able to hold onto players much easier if we manage to achieve success without burning cash to get there. There's next to no point in overspending until you're in the s*** to get to Europe, only to fall out of it for several years and potentially enter relegation battles. Be frugal, spend the money wisely but at all times keep a core of good players in the side and try the utmost to create a core which is reasonably stable for three-four years.

I fully expect to get slayed and slated here for being a w***** apologist and maybe I'm wrong, maybe all they care about is lining their pockets and f***ing us over but you can argue it both ways. The haters have a more aggressive way of talking about it but we'll not know who's right until MA's ownership comes to an end.

Oversubscribed. It didn't feel oversubscribed when we were begging everyone to bring their mates, and their mates' mates.

Wonder if we'll get the video of the 2010 SJP trip by the time most of us take to the field for SJP 2011. No. I doubt it too.

From Monday, May 23, to Monday, June 6, you can follow in the footsteps of Magpies legends such as Shearer, Keegan, Bob Moncur, Peter Beardsley and Paul Gascoigne, by experiencing the stadium, pitch and dressing rooms.

You will play a 60-minute match complete with match officials, and will be joined by an ex-professional player who will help manage and prepare your team before you walk out of the famous tunnel on to the St. James' Park pitch. He will remain with the team for the occasion and even join you for a buffet dinner in the exclusive Players' Lounge afterwards.

And to add to the matchday experience, just like Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton & Co all players will make their way up the famous steps and enter the stadium through the Old Milburn Players' Entrance, before making their way to the dressing rooms.

The cost of this unique package with a maximum of 18 players is £3,000 excluding VAT. To secure the booking a 20 per cent non-refundable deposit is required, with the outstanding balance to be paid by Friday, April 29.

Yes, a lot more expensive.

Great experience but I'm not paying £200+ to do it again.
