Got our first win of the season in 7-a-side this week, third game. Nice to have three points on the board, I did OK and managed to set up the winner with a bad first touch that turned into a lay-off.

Howay Shola lad.
Acceptance level adequate.

played a 1-2 up the line and megged the captain of the uni first team tonight.  Needless to say he had it in for me for the rest of the game.  I've been kicked all over.  I'm aching like f***!

On bench as expected, the fans are going to have to wait a little longer to see their new no7

Got the last 20 which was a bit p*ssed off about as didnt think id have enough time to make an impact, but u put a quality cross in that was tucked away that killed the game off as they were pushing to equalise

Almost lobbed the keeper from the half way line today. He just managed to back pedal and tip it onto the bar... the c***.

played intra-mural against a team of Cypriot students today (who imaginatively named themselves APOEL Nicosia ).

Seriously never known such drama in a game of 5-a-side.  Surrounded the ref because he pulled their keeper for kicking it out.  Contested every head-height call, Sledging when we kicked off, 'What are you thinking?  What are you going to do?', dived ffs and whinged about us standing on their free kicks.  Two of them were wearing alice bands, and they all had Under Armour on.  Such a bunch of posing prima-donas!

We still won 10-6 though

f***ing hate it when your stretching to volley the ball, and you only make contact with the tip of your big toe. Ouch.

Btw shouldn't this be in the football section?

Think its better here, not gunna explain why

Got training the next 3 mornings then plan on going every day next week, should be good

Match ok Sunday was f***ing difficult, bit out my depth. Played 35 mins then a player on either side was sent off, our cm who has played in thr 3rd tier here, and I was sacrificed for another cm. Was glad, unbearable heat..i need to get fit so dedicating next 5 weeks solely to training. f*** going out I wont get this chance again

Hey everyone, need some advice.

I'm coming up on 39, and used to be a decent player. Haven't played for several years, but am looking to get back to it. The problem is, the last time I did (three years ago) I picked up all sorts of muscle injuries straight away.

Do you have any recommendations for sites that suggest training schedules? I'd like to be back playing in October and to be in decent shape. For various reasons I have done very little exercise for some time.
Obviously, I'm speaking of a hypothetical world in which there is a greater club than Tottenham.

The best player on my 7-a-side team is over 40, really fit guy. Not sure what his actual training is, but I know he cycles to and from football and goes to spinning classes etc. He has the odd hamstring problem but plays the vast majority of games.

Not sure about training schedules, I'll leave that to people who have a clue.

I know, and I did!

It's interesting that Ian W mentioned hamstrings, because that's exactly the problems I was having. Some calf stuff too, but the main problem was that it seemed to take nothing at all for the hamstrings to go.

Played 6 a side last night and was just absolutely horrific

Was in nets near the end and one of their players ran through on goal but had took a heavy touch, I rushed out to blast the ball away, it hit him on the shoulder and looped over me and into the net. Knew it wasn't going to be my night after that

Scored an absolute beauty today. From about 25 yards out, right in the top corner.

Got given a start today which I wasn't sure about my fitness, ended up playing quality first half, held the ball up well, lots of one touch football which I contributed to. Just before half time in a tight half I had the ball on the edge of the area and dinked a little chip through the defence perfectly to meet someone's run in behind who finishe it off.

Legs went early second half though :yao:

Is that the first or the reserves team MW? quite interesting reading your posts, looks class..really miss playing league football ever since i turned my back on the chance to go pro at 18.

I feel like Demba Ba lately, used to be my team's top scorer and  scoring for fun but we switched to a 4-3-3 with me on the left and the other two has been scoring s*** loads and i hadn't in 3 weeks, at least the team is winning!

I train with the reserves of the div 4 team, but play for a complete different team that arent in the pro leagues. Pretty similar standard I think. The pitches that I play matches on are MUCH better than training, which actually makes it a higher standard of play.

Got shitloads of scrapes and cuts today, sent flying 3 times today albeit by great tackles

Im actually thinking of maybe not bothering with Brazil (save it for another trip, WC2014 maybe) and staying here an extra 3 weeks, before finishing in Peru. Wanna make the most of my opportunity here

You've missed a trick like, should've told them all you play for some League 1 or 2 club, or the reserves of some club.
Newcastle 4-4 Arsenal: "From impending tragedy to near-triumph via the most improbable route possible - 95 minutes that neatly encapsulate 130 years of football on this particular piece of grass. Newcastle, United, will never be defeated."

Sir Bobby Robson - What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses or the marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.

Nah wouldnt wanna set myself up for a fall, nowhere near that good. Play it cool and get better week by week is my plan. Physically is my only problem really, tad overweight and unfit, completely what I'm trying to sort out then  hopefully start banging them in again

Avoided consecutive relegations at 5-a-side last night by winning the last game of the season.
We're like Wigan - f*** all for the first half of the season and then took 15 points from a possible 18 in the last 6 games.
