End of Season Trip/WorldNET 2011 Leeds 22/23/24 July 2011
« on: Tuesday 1 February 2011, 07:15:50 PM »
Can the Admin please leave this as a main thread!

Right fellows, I've had a little idea that we could head away for a weekend, either abroad or in this country. I'm just looking to gauge opinion and see what kind of numbers we would be looking at. There would be no match on this weekend, just the boys enjoying a weekend away after a progressive season. Thoughts?

Ladies!

The 16th annual IFA Tournament, WorldNET11 will take place at The
University of Leeds' Bodington Hall on the 22/23/24 July 2011.

To enter, a team must be a bona fide IFA team, representing a football
team supporter's website, message board, email group/list or supporters
trust internet group.

An official entry form must be completed and submitted with the correct
entry fee.

The on-line entry form and on-line payment is at www.worldnet.org.uk. By
submitting an entry you agree that you will abide by the tournament rules.

Entries will be accepted on a first come first served basis.

The main tournament will have an entry of 48 teams and the Veterans
tournament will have an entry of 24 teams. (Depending on interest in
the tournament these numbers may be increased)

Each team entered must have at least one member on the IFAworldNET Yahoo
Group at all times.

The event will open on the evening of Friday 22nd July with the Scotland
vs England Internationale followed by the IFA Challenge Cup Final.

Saturday 23rd July will see group games played for the main competition
and the Vets Competition.

Sunday 24th July will see a knock out contest for the Cup, Plate and
Vets Bowl.

The entry fee before 5pm on Wednesday December the 1st 2010 will be £300
and £350 thereafter and must be paid in full at the time of submitting
an entry.

Entry fees are not refundable. No entry will be confirmed until a
completed entry form and entry fee have been received.

A copy of the official entry form, details of how to submit entries and
the competition rules will be available on the worldnet.org.uk website.

A list of competent entries for each tournament will appear on the
worldnet.org.uk website.

The organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry which does not meet
the competition rules.

Please Note
==========

Teams who do not abide by the IFA rules regarding officials will face
immediate expulsion from the tournament and all future IFA activities
including WorldNET, The IFA league, The IFA Challenge Cup and IFA
friendlies. The relevant sentence from the rules is:

"Physical and persistent verbal abuse of officials by players, members
of a team's organisation or their supporters will not be tolerated under
any circumstances, and will result in the offending team's instant
expulsion from the tournament."

We will expect all participating teams to uphold this fundamental tenet
of the tournament.

This announcement forms part of the rules of the competition.

Betty

WORLDNET ONSITE ACCOMMODATION = £65pp for 2 nights (inc. £5 refundable damage deposit)

The price for the two night package will increase by £1 (VAT) to 60 quid
per person to include breakfast on both mornings but no meal on the Friday
evening. The University will not be providing any catering other than
breakfasts although a range of sandwiches will be available from behind the
Bodington bar and the food van will be on site all Friday evening and during
the day Saturday and Sunday.

2. The damages bond will decrease by £1 to 5 quid per head, still making it
a round 65
quid per person for the weekend. The damages bond will be reimbursed, again
on a per head basis, once all damages have been paid for.

WE TRUST THAT MANAGERS AND ACCOMMODATION CO-ORDINATORS WILL
IMPRESSS UPON ALL ATTENDEES ASSOCIATED WITH THEIR TEAM, THE NEED FOR A
DAMAGE FREE WEEKEND. ON ARRIVAL ALL RESIDENTS WILL RECEIVE A ROOM "HEALTH
CHECK" SHEET; ANY DAMAGES FOUND ON ARRIVAL MUST BE REPORTED IMMEDIATELY TO
THE IFA CONTROL DESK. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN YOU/YOUR TEAM BEING
FINANCIALLY LIABLE FOR THAT DAMAGE.

WorldNet 2011
They keep saying their strategy will take several years to implement, I accept this and realise that in the future we may be able to hold onto players much easier if we manage to achieve success without burning cash to get there. There's next to no point in overspending until you're in the s*** to get to Europe, only to fall out of it for several years and potentially enter relegation battles. Be frugal, spend the money wisely but at all times keep a core of good players in the side and try the utmost to create a core which is reasonably stable for three-four years.

I fully expect to get slayed and slated here for being a w***** apologist and maybe I'm wrong, maybe all they care about is lining their pockets and f***ing us over but you can argue it both ways. The haters have a more aggressive way of talking about it but we'll not know who's right until MA's ownership comes to an end.

I'd be up for this.

NOFC invade Brighton (I'm sure Hezza Slim would love the clubs round there like)

Edit: Actually, WorldNet would be ideal.  It's in Leeds for one, and we can easily leave the drinking for afterwards.

Please note: I know the possibility of anybody not drinking the night before a match is laughable, but dammit we can dream!

Ryan air is cheaper than the metro.....Im in

Actually, on that note whatever position Slim plays for NOFC, make sure he can take alot of shots, nearly broke my hand with one in warmup,  I took some shots of Steve Bowey (ex Bristol City, I think he took their set pieces) and Slims had far more venom in them.  Don't think I've experienced such a powerful strike before.

Blackpool away weekend (not quite end of season)

Already got that penciled in, we owe PNE a game too so drive down Sat morning to Preston, give them a game at PNE training pitch, drive on to Blackpool, get drinks and watch the toon match. Night out in the 'Las Vegas of the North'.

If people are interested, then we need to get confirmed numbers ASAP:
a)  to arrange tickets.
b) to arrange accommodation (cheap)
c) to arrange transport (if there's enough interest and it's viable, we could hire a minibus)

Any takers?

Personally, I want to do WorldNet over anything else. If people have to choose between coming to WorldNet and representing the club for the weekend, or going away to somewhere foreign for a lads weekend...would rather they were signed up for WorldNet in all honesty.

Shall we sort out WorldNet and make sure everyone is sorted for that, then arrange an end of season jolly?
