S'alreet, you both know where you stand in the goalscorer stakes (I'm only 2 behind..!) so we can have a healthy rivalry for the second half of the season.

Saying that, you would've been on 5 if the Motherwell penalty...

Bit of a bystander really, it's almost as though the game was played over it...never really made an impression on anyone watching.



Held up reasonably well, some concerns that it was going to be too hard and frozen to play on but the refs experience paid off in the end, didn't even think of the pitch after the first 5-10 mins and we'd worn it in.

Cool. It just turned into a bog against Preston so pleased to hear it held up okay yesterday. Are we definitely on 3G next week?

Aye, as it turned out we could have played our game on the 3G as the other game was off by 11am (our schedued KO time). Just an issue with the frost and cup games needing to be played by the end of January we did them a favour.


f***'s sake, stress fracture of the third metatarsal on my right foot. Football is not loving me this month.

Can only echo the sentiments about the performance. I thought we were superb and everyone put in a good stint. I'd like to give a special mention to Rocker, who only wanted 10 mins but played superbly for most of the game.

Cracking performance from Kev, bossed the midfield.

It's such a shame their skipper told me that he's go 'straight through the achillies' of one of our lads. Fortunately, he was all talk and no balls. Not what the spirit of the IFA is all about. Fortunately a couple of their lads apologised on his behalf to me.

From a Bury point of view, we were quite impressed by Newcastle, as, truth be told, we were expecting it to be a little easier than it was, and maybe a little complacency crept in.

Having said that, this was a Newcastle side that held a good WBA side to 0-0 at Half Time not long ago, so we should have known better really. After our first goal went in, we created lots of chances, with one striker in particular missing a series of gilt-edged chances. A little more composure and it could have been a different story.

Newcastle brought themselves back into the game after a hopeful cross into the box was mis-judged by the 'keeper, and after a goalmouth scramble the back wound it's way into the bottom corner of the Bury net for 1-1.

After that the game opened up, and credit has to be given to both sides as they each threw caution to the wind in search for the all important winner. Fortunately for us, a terrific through ball by our captain found it's man who raced clear, and delicately lobbed the onrushing keeper. After that we created a couple more chances that would have seen the game safe, but as it was the game finished with just the 1 goal separating the 2 sides at full time.

Full credit to Newcastle and Stuart in particular, great set of lads. it's always great to play new teams both home and away, the IFA is about building bridges between teams you wouldn't normally 'mingle' with, so to play Newcastle twice is a great achievement by both teams.
