pah, there not hills, try running from blaydon rugby club to consett along the derwent walk, 12 miles of gradual climbing pain

Then I give you this from last Sunday...

Starting St James, down Boulevard, down Scotswood Road, up The Wall, across to Town Moor and up two mounds, sprint up St James multi-story car park (up ramps), sprints up Boulevard multi-story car park, sprint up Redheugh Bridge multi-storey car park, Bensham Bank climb, across Tyne Bridge and up and down all Newcastle embankment stairs, a tour through the City centre, Swing Bridge, Sage and then Millennium Bridge, climb up towards Haymarket, sprint up NCP car park, leave town, through Jesmond, along Coast Road (picking up Haribos along way), drop off running mate at North Shields, then along to West Monkseaton for tea at mams :pow:

fk that.

hoping to start on a track next week- maybe do 2 x 100m and gradually build up to 400m.
aye i'm looking to build up that way after my injury.
Bullshitters misrepresent themselves to their audience not as liars do, that is, by deliberately making false claims about what is true. In fact, bullshit need not be untrue at all.

Rather, bullshitters seek to convey a certain impression of themselves without being concerned about whether anything at all is true. They quietly change the rules governing their end of the conversation so that claims about truth and falsity are irrelevant.

Nice work - total distance?
They keep saying their strategy will take several years to implement, I accept this and realise that in the future we may be able to hold onto players much easier if we manage to achieve success without burning cash to get there. There's next to no point in overspending until you're in the s*** to get to Europe, only to fall out of it for several years and potentially enter relegation battles. Be frugal, spend the money wisely but at all times keep a core of good players in the side and try the utmost to create a core which is reasonably stable for three-four years.

I fully expect to get slayed and slated here for being a w***** apologist and maybe I'm wrong, maybe all they care about is lining their pockets and f***ing us over but you can argue it both ways. The haters have a more aggressive way of talking about it but we'll not know who's right until MA's ownership comes to an end.

Anybody tried running through the town? There's some superb hill climbs out there, with the best being The Wall from Scotwood Road to Westgate Road (at Westgage Sport Centre) and from below the King Edward Bridge (Gateshead side) up to the top of Bensham Bank.

I'm based in town so always looking for different areas to run - I've done the Quayside and the parks quite a bit so will give those a go, cheers. For one of my first ever runs I started out going up Westgate Road from town, thought I was going to die.

Try the same run again now and see how you feel, might be a good benchmark of how you're getting on?

Aye I will when I get back out there. That's sort of what I was doing a while back. Not really been running much lately (other than on a treadmill) as the cold air knackers my lungs. I could definitely see an improvement, just need a few more routes to add in to mix it up a bit so I don't get bored.

25 miles!

Was only supposed to do the 12 or so around town and get the Metro back, but it was a half decent day so ran back to the coast instead.

twats, physio says no running yet. rekons I will just become good at running with a limp- rather than what I thought was- running would loosen up my dorsifexion- but he say no.

got to be happy with small progress- walking without limp so getting somewhere.

Anyone else who fancies doing a pretty cool marathon - there's a free competition to enter above.

Need to step up the mileage this week. Need to do some running before the match tomorrow night :undecided:

Entered, I've been wanting to do this event for years but have never got round to trying since I'm saving for a house deposit and can't justify spending around 1k just to run.

Just finished a 10mile/16km route in 80minutes, was aiming to do the Silverstone Half-Marathon (13.1miles) next weekend so I think I'm still on plan with my training regime

Finally got my 12mile pace to sub 8 1/2 min miles, very pleased. Half marathon in a fortnight, short runs I think to improve some leg speed.

Went to http://www.runnersneed.co.uk/ shop in Victoria yesterday, bit of gait analysis which was pretty cool (they video your running action on a treadmill and work out what sort of support, if any, you need from your trainers). Turns out I'm quite strong but slightly pronate on one side, so I now have a pair of these bad boys:

...will now spend the next 3 weeks wearing them in

Cheers, would've been chuffed with anything under 1hr 45mins really. I also have similar adidas shoes in red trim, done about 800mile in them, which I know is far too much, but didn't want to switch before the half marathon.  After the last 3 long runs my medial cruciate has hurt, which is expected as I have fallen arches.  So it's either switch them earlier or look for some with more arch support.

I'm on looking for a decent pair of trail running shoes now, I'm doing the three peaks challenge later in the month and are expected to "run large quantities of the course" which will be interesting, I'm dreading the idea of running up and down Ben Nevis :(
