Decided to go with my Uni club's faster group on tonight's steady run, they were pottering about holding conversation whilst I was bowing out of my arse to keep up. At least it stopped me from getting cold.

Did my first run of the year on saturday. Went faster than expected, did 9km in about 44 mins, various inclines/declines. Had my mate running with me though who runs all the time and he kept me going, I almost had to stop about 2/3rds of the way but kept going cause there was someone with me. Legs were very the next day, gonna do the same circuit backwards on saturday again, hopefully beat that time.

Really annoyed went for my Sunday long run but my legs felt super shitty, had to cut it short by about half. Got quite a few races coming up in the next few weeks too. Annoyed.

I'm very slowly getting back into running.

Following the couch to 5K plan religiously because otherwise I f*** myself up and can't move for a week. I'm cool with the cardio from lots of cycling, but my legs are so not used to running. Got about a week left till I'm at the 5K mark.

Can someone recommend a training plan to get me back up to 10K without f***ing myself up?

Definitely didn't beat the time but the weather was terrible in comparison, had to stop halfway because of a full on headwind/hailstones in my face. Felt good to finish that one though, my legs are getting more used to it now I think too.

Bit annoyed today, did the first race of Leicester Road Running League, was a 6 miler and I just lost my head in the middle 2 miles wasn't pushing as hard as I should have been and my pace dropped by 30sec a mile. Finished strongly as well so I definitely should have gone harder throughout. Need to learn how to keep pushing all the way round.

Aye, but if you'd pushed in the middle two miles, you may not have finished as strongly. These things balance out.

Yeah,  but I felt as though I still had some left in the legs at the finish, I think the only way I'll really learn is to just get more and more race experience. Got the British University and Colleges Championships in Cardiff next week, going to use that as a little extra motivation for it.

Please run 2 miles more this month, or it will annoy me.

You won't like me when I'm annoyed.

I've got the same target, last year my training was very inconsistent. Some 30-40mile weeks then little for a fortnight. So this year I want at least 20 miles every week, week after week. Seems good so far, making most of the miles hard miles then gentle miles week four to help with the accumulative fatigue.

I'm varying from a 10km - 5km - 10km -5km - 10km week (no weekend running atm) and a 10km - 8km - 8km - 8km - 10km week

Wednesday's 10k is a bitch!

Started some cycling in there as well, determined to get back to my uni weight and fitness - its taking 9 years to lose it, how difficult can it be to get it back!

There's an extended version of the Couch to 5k that includes the 10k portion.  It will keep you on a similar pace as the 5k version.

I set myself a target on running 100 miles in January, managed 107.8 miles.

Was pleased with that. It was made up of mainly 4-5 mile runs upto a max of 8 miles.
Three days not sleeping, not eating, not feeling good any more, drenched in sweat and self-pity. It’s not a pretty sight.

 good effort Ali, try and train for this one :)

Cracking efforts from je85 + Colo's; enjoy the mobility!
They keep saying their strategy will take several years to implement, I accept this and realise that in the future we may be able to hold onto players much easier if we manage to achieve success without burning cash to get there. There's next to no point in overspending until you're in the s*** to get to Europe, only to fall out of it for several years and potentially enter relegation battles. Be frugal, spend the money wisely but at all times keep a core of good players in the side and try the utmost to create a core which is reasonably stable for three-four years.

I fully expect to get slayed and slated here for being a w***** apologist and maybe I'm wrong, maybe all they care about is lining their pockets and f***ing us over but you can argue it both ways. The haters have a more aggressive way of talking about it but we'll not know who's right until MA's ownership comes to an end.

Got bumped up to the A race at the British University and College Sports cross country champs and had my arse handed to me by the fast kids. Ran a better race than last weeke though. Was in the back group of about 10 for the first half then left them and picked off plenty in the second half.

Really enjoyable race though the atmosphere was awesome, the front runners were scary quick.

Just had a look at the results it was 10.46km and 142 runners came in under 35mins. I feel less bad for being blown to pieces at the back of the field now.
