Hey, there's this app in the appstore and android market that allows you to navigate and reply on forums easier called Tapatalk. It supports simple machines so I thought it might be cool to have this board on there, too. I think its free to do so, as well.

Someone suggested this before. As you probably know from the times it goes down when busy, the forum is pretty unstable at present. We've decided as a result to postpone any such plug-ins until the next version of SMF is officially released.

Cheers.

Any idea of a timeframe on this Dave? I'm a big fan of Tapatalk and this place is pretty much the only place I visit that has not yet implemented it.

Cheers.

which version of SMF are you waiting for? it's on 1.1.12 at the moment.

Obviously if it involves an upgrade & testing etc then I've no problem waiting a bit.

Yeah, candidate 4. It's been in development since 2005 and they still won't say when it's going to be released.

Aye, it's incompatible with Jonny Hall, we'll install it when he retires.

Having difficulty using this and wondering if there is another FAQ thread as there seems little in here.

Basically topics come up when I click unread, however sometimes it takes me to the first ever page in a thread and sometimes to the latest comment.

This is not thread specific as in the last few minutes I've been in the reserves thread twice and been to first ever comment and then latest comment.

???

In the main Tapatalk app screen there is a "Settings" option at the bottom. Within that there's a "Thread" subsection, which has a "Loading Behaviour" option.

I've just set mine to "first unread" and it's working for me, although it takes slightly longer to load/scroll down to the right point. Try that.

I've noticed that sometimes if you try going back into a thread you've already read you just get a blank screen.

Likewise. Just get username @ Newcastle-Online at the top and nothing else.

Have to refresh to get anything.

Change your refresh rate to always will probably work. Maybe don't do that if your using 3G though.

Is there supposed to be something that tells you which threads have new posts in? The green thing rarely works, if it's meant to be that. And what do the numbers mean?

It's alright this, but nowhere near as good as made out to be.

And why does it always show what's in the first post? Utterly useless.

Rather than go in the forum tab, I stay in the latest tab which only has threads with new posts in. Once you've read it they drop out. You simply swipe the screen down to reload more new comments.
