Yes. I heard very, very good things from Southampton fans when we signed him so I expect him to do a lot in the Championship.

We have a 46 game season to play plus cup games,  a woefully think squad, when the transfer window shuts at the end of the month EVERY single player left at the club will have a big part to play, when the season gets going we play Saturday/Sunday Tuesday/Wednesday Saturday/Sunday,  don't think any player will play every game.
Guthrie might have to wait a while before he gets a chance but he'll play his part.

I like, him. Not sure he has the assets for the prem but he should be more than capable in the Championship.  A lesser version of Clarky maybe.

Rate him, he will be a massive player this season.
Guthrie
Smith
Barton
Nolan
Vuckic

out Butt & Geremi, saves wages to go on a CB & RB

He's got this calmness and elegance on the ball I really like about him. Decent passer and shooter and probaby our second most creative player behind Barton. Him and Barton against the p*ss poor sides in this division would be a joy to watch.

Guthrie and Barton will be the best CM partnership in the league. Or at least it would if it was ever given a chance, which it wont.

Yeah, will be a good little player.
Acceptance level adequate.

Been waiting to see Guthrie and Barton play together, but when one comes back, the other gets injured or in Barton's case, suspended.

Be big for us no doubt, him along side Barton is exciting.

Are Smith, Nolan and Butt all drop-able, at once? Surely the management will never drop all 3? Guthrie will prob be mainly used as a sub with these clowns.

If Shearer comes in I could see a 3-5-2 or 4-3-3 with Smith Barton Guthrie.

3-5-2 would be suicide, imo.

Both he and Barton, individually, will be excellent in this league. Whether or not the two will work together remains to be seen... and if Smith continues to stake a claim we'd arguably be better off picking one or the other. But all in all, if we've still got the two of them as options come September, i'll be very happy. Butt and Nolan shouldn't get a look in, and if we employ a competent manager - that'll be the case. I wouldn't count on it, however.

My only mackem mate said he was the best player in the championship, when they were wallowing down there a couple of seasons ago.

I've got a bad feeling we won't be able to keep him.

As he isn't a so-called "big name" or one of the senior players who somehow still get a game despite being absolute gash I bet we don't play him. Which is a shame as for me it should be him and Barton starting in the middle of the park every time.
"I took the decision to resign in September 2008 only after very careful and anxious consideration. The decision to resign was one of the most difficult decisions that I have ever had to take in my life. I believe that anybody who knows me and my attachment to Newcastle United and the North East in general will understand how difficult this must have been. I very much hope that the decision of the Tribunal now confirms why I felt that I had no option but to resign from the position as Manager of the Club that I love."- Kevin Keegan speaking on 02/10/2009

Alan Smith looked like a footballer yesterday, Guthrie will be absolutely fine.
