Are strings going sharp or flat?

Also, check your trem setup. If you're not using the whammy bar, you might as well tension the springs so there's no danger of the bridge floating around or owt.

They're going flat after bending, which gives some weight to the stretching theory.. but these have been on for about a week now, and while I'm used to nylon strings taking that long to settle down, my memory of playing electric is that they were usually sorted in a day or so.  I pull them away from the pickups to stretch them, but maybe they could do with a bit more.

I always just blocked up the trem cavity in strats but haven't done it yet with this one.  Is it better just to chuck a couple of extra springs on so it won't move?

Aye, just do that.

The way I usually stretch strings is just grab it around 17th fret and yank it pretty heavy-handedly a few times. Work up and down the string a few times. Check to see if it's gone out of tune. Tune roughly to pitch. Continue. You can wrap a cloth around the thin strings to stop it cheese-wiring your hand.

Hot weather is also a problem.

(far from the best Asturias ever, but I thought people might watch it if played by a girl).  You might have to turn it up a bit :)

I've only got a Fender Frontman which is a transistor but I don't gig. If I was to start gigging I'd get a Blues Jr. straight away.

They are good but expensive.

I had a Pro Junior - which is the same thing but smaller without reverb and it was class, turn it full up for natural drive.

I've got to the stage when I'm not as pushed as I used to be. I was in a covers band for awhile and that was fun at first but the drummer and singer killed it for me. I wanted to do decent rock music and cater for a certain type of audience. It can be done, you won't get 3 gigs a week but it would be more fun and then start writing our own stuff and start adding that to set. They just wanted to please everyone. I left when they requested Joe Dolan and Dolly Parton. I didn't want to do that s*** and they did so I walked. It might sound petty or childish but the way I see it, if I wasn't enjoying it then why bother? They carried in, replaced me with a new lead guitarist and got a new bassist (the old walked with me). Also, I do Music Tech as well as Classics in Uni. I'm trying to record an album for college but I've learned you can't depend on musicians for anything  Back to playing the guitar purely for fun now :)

It'd be a piece of p*ss to buy old knackered parts, a cheap fridge and knock one of those up yourself. Might make some to sell on Ebay.

You can buy all the bits; grill, switches, corners, for next to nowt and new online. You don't necessarily have to carve up a 1959 Super Lead. Shitty old cabs are ten a penny as well.
