If you can I'd go for 4, I did a few years ago and there's so much to see and do we could have easily stayed for another week.

Try http://www.asda-travel.co.uk/, I saw a few good deals on there the other week!

Tbh mate a whole year probably wouldnt be enough!!

I went for 3 days, it was class, but it was over in a blink of an eye and we barely scratched the surface.
Of course. I've been grooming Pedro for ages just to get a crack at that starfish.

Newark is far too far away from New York City to stay at. Fine to fly to (get train from there to Penn Station I think?)... but hotel wise you'd want something alot more central

One thing I remember about NYC is just how dissapointing the top of the Statue of liberty is!

You walk up all those stairs to the top and all it is is a gruby little platform with tiny windows that you can hardly look out of!
You see all them massive windows on her head?, they are just for show, the actuall windows are about 1/5 of the size!!

Of course. I've been grooming Pedro for ages just to get a crack at that starfish.

When I went we caught the last ferry of the day so it was too late to go up to the viewing platform - there was what I would imagine was an infinitely better view of the bottom of the island and Ellis island etc from the top of the WTC.

One of lasting memories of New York  will be being there in July 2001. We had the opportunity to do a "Top of the World" tour at the WTC, but we ending up not going. There were such fantastic bulidings. New York is probaly the best city in the entire world. Definitely in the US (well significantly better than Baltimore or Storrs anyway )

1)  Go for as long as you can.

2)  Stay in Manhattan.

3)  Whatever you spend will be worth it.

Enjoy. :)

They were one of the first towns to get 50Mb broadband on cable. Not sure about the exhaust center though. Note 'center' in keeping with the thread

Defo stay for at least 4 nites mate.I did and it was over way too quick, try ebookers or skyscanner they will search all the flights for you and just pick the cheapest one.I thought you would get the flight for cheaper than 450 tbh.
Newarks only 16 miles from Manhattan, heres a link to help you getiing to and from the airport.

Also make sure you go to Woodbury for shopping, unreal cheap. Its about a 45 min on a bus, defo worth the visit and you go to the vistor centre to get a booklet with even more reductions.Bring your passport.

Make sure you go up the Empire State. We spent literally hours up there and saw the sun go down and watched all the lights come on, it was amazing.

I've always dreamed of visiting New York. And one day soon, me and the boy will do that. I must fulfill this ambtion for both of us, maybe when he's about ten, so that he can properly remember the experience!

Usual touristy stuff, but I wouldnt mind getting amongst the real NYC, meeting the people, local bars, food etc.

I'd like to avoid tramps, muggers and anal rape where possible.

I rode on the subway, its fine tbh.

Although there are a lot of mentalists on there that is for sure, especially at night. Its kind of like the North Shields - Monument stretch on our Metro.
Of course. I've been grooming Pedro for ages just to get a crack at that starfish.

The Subway's fine if you've got your head screwed on. Personally, I preferred to walk to wherever I wanted to get to, purely because of the feel of the place.

It's a fantastic place and somewhere you'd never run out of things to do or see.  :pow:
