Went to Cafe 21 last night and really enjoyed it. The slow cooked shoulder of pork with plack pudding mash and cider sauce was amazing.

Yeah, that was what I had, terrific and the cheese and spinach souffle was as brilliant as always.

Its being bigged up but i had a groupon there and dient think much of it.  Bangkok cafe is still the best so far

Actually, on that note whatever position Slim plays for NOFC, make sure he can take alot of shots, nearly broke my hand with one in warmup,  I took some shots of Steve Bowey (ex Bristol City, I think he took their set pieces) and Slims had far more venom in them.  Don't think I've experienced such a powerful strike before.

Been to Pani's tonight. Would highly recommend it. Good, unpretentious Italian bait at a reasonable cost.

I remember going there a couple of years ago (name escaped me for ages though), definitely enjoyed my experience back then. Good to hear that the standards are still high.

Just over 20 notes for 2 large wines, garlic bread and 2 pasta dishes. Not too shabby. All the staff are full on Italianos n all which is always a good sign I reckon.

Didn't really believe people when they told me that Newcastle had plenty of excellent restaurants but it's definitely true! Saw it by myself. O0

Went to Sabatiny (Italian restaurant) last Saturday, quite a nice place (very busy though). Would have been much better if the waiter had brought me the vegetarian lasagne I ordered, instead of which he brought me a pizza.   It must have been because he didn't understand me... :undecided:

Went also to Six at the top of the Baltic on Monday evening. Just this restaurant worthed the entire trip! The view on the Bridge was just woooooow! :smitten:
And the meal was excellent, ordered a Risotto with artichoke and salsa verde!

Finally went to Santana in Jesmond last night. Had penne, Napoli ones. Was very simple and very good. :snod: Plus an ice cream vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.  :aww:

Plus, you have some very nice places to have hot chocolate and good cakes! As I'm a hot chocolate addict, it was very important for me!

I had this the other week, very nice dish. Six is definitely one of the best restaurants in the city, glad you enjoyed the toon.

re an earlier pub grub recommendation of the robin hood on the military road. don't go, it shut a week or two ago. :dave:
Bullshitters misrepresent themselves to their audience not as liars do, that is, by deliberately making false claims about what is true. In fact, bullshit need not be untrue at all.

Rather, bullshitters seek to convey a certain impression of themselves without being concerned about whether anything at all is true. They quietly change the rules governing their end of the conversation so that claims about truth and falsity are irrelevant.

Anybody been to Electric East (what used to be called Barn Asia) before?

I'd be surprised if it wasn't as good, the menu, etc. basically seems to be lifted from the old place with the addition of asian tapas.

Will have to give that a try. Loved Barn Asia.

Went to Vujon on Sunday night. Had a lush meal.

Went to Café Med in Jesmond on Monday, it wasn't the best. Food was slow and not amazing, prices online didn't match what was in the restaurant either. First Italian Resturant I've been too that was fully owned and staffed by Indians too. It was trying to be like Amachi's but it wasn't anything like it.

Was absolutely lush like.

I had tempura battered king prawns for my starter, with chilli jam and vindaloo mayo.

Then had twice roasted duck leg with bombay potatoes for my main. Gorgeous.

Not restaurants as such, but planning on town early for a greasy spoon...anyone know if any exist still in Newcastle?

Only can think of three off the top of my head, one at the top of Dean Street, One on Westgate Road and one between central strabucks and the Mile Castle.
