Fairly heroic D from Denver there.

Thomas Jones sort of half got tackled, then got back up and ran for a TD because Denver pretty much gave up and decided he was probably tackled.

Pathetic, we've 17 points in the first 17 minutes and we're still not in any way likely to win.

I'm watching the Pats. If they lose this, they're done.

Man, what a day I've had/having. Wake up, breakfast + the Manchester derby. Quick shower. Chelsea v Arsenal. Dinner. Giants v Redskins. Snacks. Pats v Steelers. Sleep.

Gonna have to miss the Vikes game today.

Another Ravens bloodbath today. This team, especially the defence has responded very well to the humbling they received in New York.

Constantly pulled down by the mediocrity of others.

Bullshitters misrepresent themselves to their audience not as liars do, that is, by deliberately making false claims about what is true. In fact, bullshit need not be untrue at all.

Rather, bullshitters seek to convey a certain impression of themselves without being concerned about whether anything at all is true. They quietly change the rules governing their end of the conversation so that claims about truth and falsity are irrelevant.

Jesus, Cutler just made one of the most amazing throws I've ever seen.

He's very Favre-esque, makes some of the dumbest decisions and also some of the most incredible throws you'll ever see.

Costly pick that may have cost us the game, blew a chance to go up by 3 scores. But then comes out and throws an insane throw, on the run with a defender tackling him, back across his body into double coverage 20 yards downfield and it hits Scheffler straight in the chest.

C'mon Atlanta, if they f*** this game against San Diego I'll cry.

New York are humbling everyone these days.

Ravens are as good as anyone in the AFC as far as I can see. The question will be how well Flacco can cope with the playoff pressure.

That D will give him every opportunity to prove he is.

7-5 :pow:

Division is within reach now. We've got one division game left against the Lions and the Bears have got the Packers. If we beat the Lions, I think we take the tie-breaker (conference record) over the Bears so in effect, we'll have a 1.5 game lead with two games to go.

No team on that side of the bracket would have a good chance of beating the Giants unless the Cowboys qualify. I have a feeling they could keep up.

The Ravens are in a good position but remaining fixtures are quite tough. Three of four of them are against the Steelers, Redskins, and Dallas. Two of them fierce rivals and all three battling for playoff position.

Also, I'm finally understanding just how bad this playoff qualification thing is though. Terrible how teams like Baltimore and Dallas will have to battle very hard for a playoff spot, while the likes of Bronco and Phoenix (Who have inferior records) can go w*** themselves for the final four games and most likely qualify. Seriously, I have only just recently fully understood this concept, and I'm legitimately furious in all honesty. This is more geared towards Phoenix. I saw them during the break and they are rubbish. It's hard to call NFL players soft. But they're soft.

The wild card for the NFC is now almost certainly going to have to be 11-5 with the NFC South performing so well this weekend.  That means winning 3 of the remaining 4 for my Boys (v. Steelers (a), Ravens (h), Giants (h), Eagles (a)) and I just don't see it happening, Romo or not.  :undecided:  Both wild cards could easily come out of the South - Tampa or (probably) Carolina will get the first, and the Falcons could get in as he second.

It's for the best. Wade Phillips in the playoffs is... :joker:

I still get lightheaded/furious when I think about him starting Johnson over Flutie.

He makes baffling decisions in pressure situations. Miss the playoffs this year, and they'll boot his ass for that redheaded guy you have.

Even if he makes the Super Bowl he'll still probably go at the end of the season.  The rumour is the that the only reason Garrett didn't leave in the summer was that Jerry promised him the head coaching job.

The one upside of the tough schedule is no peaking early like last season.  We are on a 3 win streak, albeit against Washington and two s*** teams.  In order to make it in, they are going to have to produce their best performances of the season by far.  It's still effectively in our own hands, and the talent is there to do it.  The mentality should be that the playoffs for the Cowboys start next Saturday because every game from now on is likely to be a must-win.

They should just scrap automatic qualification for the division winner.  The best records in the conference should get in, period.  Divisonal record should just be used as a tie breaker at best.

As for the Giants, I'm really looking forward to that game actually.  I hope we are still in with a shot at the playoffs by that point to make it mean something.  Last game ever at Texas Stadium, will be amazing, wish I could go.  As good as they've been, I just don't see that much difference between the team this season and the one that we beat twice and scored 76 points against last season.  Maybe I'm wrong, maybe Eli is a changed man after last years heroics, but I can't help but feel that if you can find a way to get some pressure on him and put him down a few times that Petyon Manning's inadequate, inferior little brother is in there somewhere just waiting to bottle it.

Thank you kindly indeed. Would have been a travesty had Atlanta lost that. They dominated start to finish, only two turnovers and a goal line stand stopped it being a blowout.

Still can't hang with Denver mind you.  :pow:

Tampa Bay vs New England

@ Wembley, London, UK.

I. Can't. Wait.    :celb:
They keep saying their strategy will take several years to implement, I accept this and realise that in the future we may be able to hold onto players much easier if we manage to achieve success without burning cash to get there. There's next to no point in overspending until you're in the s*** to get to Europe, only to fall out of it for several years and potentially enter relegation battles. Be frugal, spend the money wisely but at all times keep a core of good players in the side and try the utmost to create a core which is reasonably stable for three-four years.

I fully expect to get slayed and slated here for being a w***** apologist and maybe I'm wrong, maybe all they care about is lining their pockets and f***ing us over but you can argue it both ways. The haters have a more aggressive way of talking about it but we'll not know who's right until MA's ownership comes to an end.

Problem with just putting the top 6 ranked teams in the playoffs is it completely annihilates any prestige in winning your own division, which I'd not like to see.

Sure, you'll always get teams like the ones in the NFC East and South getting screwed over by an ultra tough division, but generally if they're good enough to really challenge they'll make the playoffs anyway.

I could see an arguement for having homefield advantage for the wild-card round determined by record. i.e The Ravens finish 11-5 and get a wildcard spot, Denver finished 9-7 and wins the division. Ravens getting home advantage makes sense. But you have to make the division titles worth something IMO, even if the division is weak that year.

Looking at Arizona's schedule though, they've not beaten anyone really any good except Dallas. Denver, as s**** as they've played in some games, have at least beaten some good teams in Tampa, New Orleans, Atlanta and the Jets. Assuming they don't make a royal mess of it from here, they'll be just worth their playoff spot.

I really dread what could happen against Manning and the Colts though... bad, bad memories...

When they actually show up they can give most anyone a game though. I'm not saying that they outplayed Atlanta, cos they didn't, but there was nothing lucky about it. Game could have gone either way and Denver were worthy winners. And they thumped the Jets yesterday.

Then they can get hammered by the likes of Kansas and Oakland.

Weird, weird team.

Anyways,

Atlanta are currently in position to be the 2nd wildcard in the NFC. To be frank, thats f***ing annoying. Tampa Bay and Carolina are taking the p*ss. How come everyone in the NFC south has to show up in the same year.

Atlanta's next three games are f***ing harsh.

Need to win at New Orleans this weekend, 10-6 probably won't get a wildcard and it's hard to see them beating Tampa and Minny in consecutive weeks.

Anyone watching this? Inept is an understatement.

Texans line up in a field goal formation on 4th and 3 with 3 seconds to go in the half, fake a field goal, incomplete pass into the endzone. They commit a penalty on the play anyway and end up with no points. This was, of course,  following Garrard coming out and throwing a pick on his second throw and Jacksonville's second possession, which was preceded by a 3 and out to begin with. The Texans then somehow moved back 6 yards in 3 downs to move out of field goal position and then Rosenfels decided to throw a pick to give it right back to Jacksonville. Who of course marched down the field to miss a gimme field goal.

EPIC FAIL does not describe how bad this is.
