A show like South Park will always have slumps in form considering how it's made. South Park is in desperate need for big news to happen for it to be at its best, even though those kind of episodes aren't always the best, but they are needed to complement the kids being kids episodes.
Saying it has jumped the shark would be very harsh. So far this run we've had two poor episodes (Dead Celebrities and Wrestling), one decent (Whale Whores) and one very good in Butters Bottom Bitch, and even the poor ones will give you a few good laughs.

Given the success of previous shows like that, they seem desperate to find these news stories now and force them in rather than having it flow naturally. There are so few "kids be kids" episodes now it's crazy. There's a pretty good quote from a reviewer on the wiki page of the Whale episode: "The show’s star, Paul Watson, seems to have really p*ssed off [South Park's creators] Parker and Stone [...] Fine, but could you make me laugh a few times while you beat me over the head with information about a guy that I couldn’t care less about?"

Shouldn't have rewatched the early season again before 13 restarted... was shocking how brilliant it was even season one. I'm really tempted to say it's jumped seeing this season has gone. Didn't know they were working on a movie too though... maybe it's a bit of an excuse.

Episode 1312 - The F Word:
The boys aren't going to let the Harley Festival being held in South Park ruin their weekend. Everyone agrees they've had enough of the loud and obnoxious bikers that have arrived in South Park. The boys are taking on the Harley Riders. They throw down the F word and the game is on.

Great ep, the whole thing was pretty funny. Probably the best so far.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty good. It just lacked that one moment of hilarity for me. Overall comparable to Butters Bottom Bitch, except that BBB had a couple of more proper laugh out loud moments.

I've quite enjoyed them all apart from the dead celebrities episode, which was total s**** and out of continuity - it should surely have been 'Mr Jefferson'.  That was one of my major problems with The Simpsons movie as well (apart from it being a bit s***).  It should have been President Wolfcastle, not Ahnuld.

Kyle's last name has been spelt differently so many times, and Jimmy used the Swanson, but they seemed to forget that, so he's no Vaulmer instead. And in The Jefferson, he was still Michael Jackson, but he didn't want the people to know, so he used a different name.

True - but that whole episode was a load of s**** anyway and that was just a minor problem with it.  And that is actually the thing - I honestly cannot remember watching an episode of South Park before and thinking that it was a load of s****.  Am I growing up?  I f***ing hope not!

I know that people hated the episode but I thought the wrestling one was good - it managed to make something as ludicrous as professional wrestling even more ludicrous, and 'Vince McMahon' sitting with his opera glasses commenting on the quality wrestling was a great send up.

For twenty years it's been Ranier Wolfcastle, and that just all got scrubbed.  I suppose it would be hard for them to use the character in future episodes though if he is the president.......

Nah, not so much a controversy. Just that their spoof of Arnie was always McBain/Wolfcastle but for the film they had the same character and voice but with an updated model and had him as Schwarzenegger.

Really a shame for long term fans, they went for the easier laugh really which I suppose shouldn't be surprising from modern Simpsons.

There's no controversy. They were appealing to a much wider audience than they usually do with just the TV show, so they let go of one running gag which the ones new to The Simpsons wouldn't have understood. $$$

Was a bit slow/long given that the entire episode was geared up for one punchline, but it was an excellent one when it got round to it.

Although i love South park, i wish they would do less of the celebrity p*ss takes. Saying that , i cant wait for the episode.
