Great TV adverts
« on: Friday 25 January 2008, 02:46:32 PM »
This has probably been done before, but I can't be arsed to search for it.

I've just read GM's Incredibly s*** adverts thread and wanted to have a little think about some of the belters over the years. Obviously Guiness springs to mind, both the dominos one and, even better, the travelling back in time one. I like the one where the birds can't fly, and there's a banging tune you try to whistle for hours afterwards, but can't, because it's too difficult. Cillit Bang is 'bang' on, and there was a great egg card advert where a woodpecker flew past a man's head and he said 'Whoah. What's in YOUR wallet'

My favourite ever ad was a Natwest one where this little cartoon dog went off getting into little scrapes and there was a quality song in the background "Every step I take *WOOF WOOF* I make a new friend"

No-one mention the drumming gorilla.
Under-21 coach David Platt added: "If Shola recognises what he's got, all hell could break loose."

All of the careerbuilder ads seem to be good though.

Obviously the Nike football adverts in the cage and boat were class as well.

Is this of all-time?

If it's only current ones then I like the new Eurostar one with the Phillip Glass version of "Hereos".

Honda have done some great ads, including the Accord Rube Goldberg machine one and the Civic voice orchestra.

I like that one where they have all them people play one note each of a song. All going round in a line. Sony Walkman is it.

There are no good adverts.  They're all produced by suckers of Satan's cock, every one of them.  They're all evil. [/Bill Hicks]

Having said that “Singing Cowboy” is ok by me...

...and I think Frank Zappa did one for GE where he implored people not to use electricity.

Both brilliant.

I like adverts with a bit of thought behind them.

Radio is where its at...

'Its better and fresher at Bookless' for example (with the bird who sang on Meatloafs 'Anything for love')

Or at the local cinema - Sadie the Bra Lady and all the rubbish local car dealers who think its acceptable to film an advert using a cheap handheld camcorder.
If you use supplements for your garden/pets/yourself please have a look at my mates website - www.thefulvicacidcompany.com

MY best radio advert lately, has to be the Pennine Windows advert, featuring our very own Alan "Walnut" Robson!

Why?

Cos they've gone POP, and i won't have to listen to the f***er any more!!   O0

That current Lynx one is pretty good. Just the fixed smile and eyes make me giggle.

Do you remember the Remingtons advert?

"Shaves as close as a blade - or your money back!"

What Bell end (like me) goes back to Asda customer service with a shaver full of dead chin, and says

"can I have my money back please, this shaver does not meet the standards it attributes itself to!"

WHICH WAS THE CASE BTW

the anti-smoking one going round now is complete bollocks, isn't it, like the scenario of the people.

I've studied it multiple times, and it depicts a family sitting watching a lad (presumably their son) sitting playing on a games console, while he is an unsociable b****** as he has his headphones in as he plays.

the Intercasino one with 3 midgets on, with playing card suits painted on their bare chests just made me laugh, but that might be 'cos I'm half-cut.

seen that one!

Why do midgets, or "little people" seem to have no self respect when it comes to getting a bit famous, but call them a tacky name, and they chase you with a stick?
