Calling it s*** I understand but how is it similar to recent oasis stuff?

Going for that old school rock and roll feel, was a lot of that on recent Oasis stuff.

That's the kind of music they like. Thats the kind of music they make. They were never going to do anything else.

Well it's not the only type of music they like and are capable of as history has shown. This is pure lazy s****. The band I was in could write a similar song in a day without question. Andy Bell and Liam are capable of much, much better.
Tbh writing a song to the quality of BTL is nothing to be boasting about. Andy was great in Ride and has been hit and miss with oasis and Liam has been poor to average with maybe 3 brilliant songs so far. Also, his voice really isn't what it used to. He's now both the second best singer as well as songwriter in the Gallagher household.

Who was boasting about it? If you re-read my post I called it lazy s****!! And as you have said, they are capable of much, much better. Liam not having quite as good voice isn't an issue. It's not as if he used to use a mad vocal range anyway, Noel did the highs, Liam did the rest.

Although they said it wasn't working before I'd love them to work with Death in Vegas again. Not sure who is producing this but they need to give them a kick up the arse if they are serious about releasing decent music. I suspect they just don't have the drive anymore though. Who knows.

think i heard the Masterplan years back actually, don't think they're on Spotify or I'd go back for a listen...absolutely not going out of my way to listen to them mind

If youre not going to go out of your way to listen to The Masterplan then its your loss tbh.

that depends on your musical taste my friend, and how good you think Oasis are in the grand scheme of things - personally i think not very but that's just me and patently the wrong thread to be voicing such views

Indeed.

They're (were) class man; if you don't agree, you don't really like music.

erm, aye, righto man

1.5 good albums imo, what i've heard of the rest is frankly just repetitive s***

i'll be sure to let the likes of Led Zep, RATM etc. know they must try harder though mate

quite a statement indeed

EDIT: that has to be a windup too right?  i mean ignore the usual suspects of Stones, Beatles, Zep and you'd do very well to justify that statement still

gotta be a windup

Yeah it is a statement, but I believe it to be true and one that people shouldn't be afraid of making. I am of course biased as I am from the Oasis generation but years ago after coming to this conclusion I made it my quest to seek out and listen to all the great British bands from years gone by to see for myself. What I found was that although all these other legendary British bands were f***ing great, the difference was that they had in my opinion nowhere near the quantity of good songs that Oasis have. Even the Beatles.

Take The Who for example, I go crackers over them, they are my second favourite band ever, I love their stuff but again I cant find the same quantity of great songs that I can with Oasis. I realise that without these bands there would have been no Oasis but I think they just drew upon all these great influences and put it together in one ultimately better package.

Obviously, it is all subjective and had I been born in another decade I would probably think differently.

dear god, this IS the most elaborate wind up ever right?

i could start by pointing out, if it were true, that oasis only have so many 'good songs' due to them ripping off all of the bands you refer to shamelessly

you patently haven't listened to enough rolling stones for one thing, their back catalogue vs. oasis wouldn't be a fair fight, forget beatles & zep

i was at college when oasis started and was a big stone roses fan before that, it doesn't justify those statements...outrageous

i know what you're saying man but your statement that oasis have the largest quantity of good songs compared to all other British bands in history isn't subjective, it's just f***ing wrong, and i'd be astounded if you found one other person in the world who'd agree (maybe even Noel)

Well in my opinion they do!!!  I'm not expecting a man who reckons they have 1.5 good albums to agree with me!  Lets take the Beatles for example.....remember this is in my opinion...... If you were to give me two cd's, one with the 40 best Beatles tracks on and one with the 40 best Oasis tracks on,  I know which one I'll be listening to again the day after and it wouldnt be The Beatles. The same goes for the Stones, The Who, Led Zep etc etc. Dont get me wrong, I am not insulting any of these other bands, they are all superb!

i did say "what i've heard of the rest", which is not a lot - soon as i heard the first song from be here now i walked away and have never been back, every snippet i came across after that was more of the same s*** to me, and once i heard the tripe liam was spouting out i started running in the opposite direction

different horse for different courses i agree, but there aren't enough parallel universes to find one where the oasis back catalogue is stronger than the Beatles i'm afraid pedro

That says it all! :yikes: "D'You Know What I mean?" is an outstanding track, it really is. If that was the end of Oasis for you then there is really no point in continuing this debate!!  If you think that I need to listen to more of other bands back catalougues then you REALLY need to listen to more of Oasis's.

I think that pretty much every single person who regularly posts in this thread will tell you that DYKWIM? is a great track.  Yeah, I could put together a list of what I consider to be the 40 best Oasis tracks for you but it will take me a bit of time and I'm not sure I want to put the effort in of making the list only for you to go "They're s***!!"

I'd leave out:

Shakermaker
Magic Pie
Fade In-Out  (live version would be better)
Go Let It Out
Who Feels Love?
I Can See a Liar
Songbird
She Is Love
Better Man
Love Like a Bomb

I'd include:
Step Out
Let's All Make Believe
Carry Us All
Full On
One Way Road
Lord Don't Slow Me Down
Shout it Out Loud
Part of the Queue

Dont think so, I shall go and check it out.  WFL is for me an absolutely superb song. It took me a while to like it initially when first released but once the penny dropped I just couldnt stop listening to it. Love the feel of it, love the the lyrics and the video.
