Not after last time, egg boy.

:hmm: I thought you'd have got over that by now. You and your hang-ups.

You have me all wrong. I'm a very delicate and sensitive soul.

And now you've decided to follow your heart, do what you love, and have fulfilled your lifelong dream of managing the local Burger King?

I am looking for a placement, either in corporate finance or as a trader. I was wondering either if you new some good places to look or you have any good tips for interviews etc.

Have you watched the news recently?

My university course gives me a 3rd year placement, and yes the economy is bad, but the stockmarket ticks on.

See, you've already got half the letter written there. "What letter?" - I hear you cry! I'll tell you what letter, young fella me lad...the letter that you're going to send to every single corporate finance institution in the City asking for a placement. Now p*ss off and fire up Microsoft Word and get typing. :D

Wouldn't go big 4 accountancy for a placement - I think Deloitte do one but you won't get any decent exposure unless you plan to follow the career up post uni.

Personally I did my placement year at a small company and got involved in everything from Accounts to HR (including taking notes in a meeting where someone got fired) to Operations to Marketing. Others who got into big companies ended up as a glorified office junior.

Also right now smaller companies will probably be shedding dead weight staff so there will be more opportunities for you to get completely involved in every aspect of the business

It's a great opportunity to put something on your CV that a lot of graduates won't have, it could be vital in the current climate where (assuming you've got 2 and a half years left) graduates will be competing with people who have a few years ecperience and are rebuilding their working life

On a serious note, just go to a careers fair at uni and see who's offering industrial placements at the moment. I was running stalls at a couple this year and there were still a fair few places to be had.

Mate of mine works for them. Even in his first year working there he did bugger all of interest.
