I'm new here and I was wondering if there's a lot of people here that like punk or any related bands? And what are your favourites?

My favourites are Anti-flag, Dead Kennedys, The Unseen, Rise Against, Strike Anywhere, The Adicts, Cock Sparrer, Leftover Crack (these are weird to say the least but I'd check them out), Choking Victim and lots more...

Most on here would agree with you.

I still listen to Punk.

Currently I have been listening to a lot of teh Trucks and the Noisettes. Haven't listened to DK for a while or Rise Against. I still listen to Fugazi and all related bands (Ebrace, Egg hunt, Minor Threat, etc) in heavy rotation.

I like some Minor Threat. I've got some Fugazi too, but it's not really my thing.

Amazing the staying power the've had. Saw them live in 1989 - broke up in 1990 iirc.

So name the punk you're listening to then.

In my experience American Punk > UK Punk - especially 80s hardcore from LA and DC. Probably acculturation on my part.

Yeah, I think the same here. Blood For Blood are a really good hardcore band.  The Subhumans and Cock Sparrer are the best 2 UK punk bands imo.

well i am a big fan of the clash. tbh i listen to a lot of reggae and ska and just any old alternative, which includes american and brittish punk, reggae and ska. i'll also listen to other genres. i want to expand really to go into the period of american punk you've mentioned but i've been so lazy in the last 6 months i can't name a single new band i've listened to off of the top of my head. dlded a few dead keneddy stuff a while back but again due to lazieness i didn't follow up. so yea the clash and operation ivy are 2 of my favourite bands, also like nae, love sublime which are from cali. i don't really like rancid or pennywise or any of the others.

to give you a better list i'd have to get my mp3 which i've misplaced around the house, operation ivy were amazing, even though they are way before my time, the only punk i'm listening too at the moment is the clash, because i've recently got a few more albums including eturnity live, which is really good. i've just remembered another american band, the descendants, who i think are ok, but thats just going on 1 album mind, oh and NOFX, who are good.

Pennywise and Rancid are pretty poor really. NOFX are ok, i'ma  bit hit and miss with those. You might like Choking Victim and Leftover Crack, who are kinda punk/ska and are American. I'd say anti-flag are a good bet if you like nofx...

i don't so much like nofx, as accept them as a good band who i think are ok. i will download some more music after my exams, which is the deadline i've set for pretty much everything i need to do, bar my exams

kin' ell mate i was only 12!!!!!

never particularly got off with punk, i always prefereed the bands classed as punk but werent (or maybe were if we find another term for the likes of the pistols ) for me it was the stranglers, banshees, joy division, fall, then the likes of xmal deutschland and jesus and mary chain.

i did have a liking for CRASS mind and hagar the womb.......sounded batter and said more than the rest, more pro-active as opposed to the nihilsm of so many others.
Bullshitters misrepresent themselves to their audience not as liars do, that is, by deliberately making false claims about what is true. In fact, bullshit need not be untrue at all.

Rather, bullshitters seek to convey a certain impression of themselves without being concerned about whether anything at all is true. They quietly change the rules governing their end of the conversation so that claims about truth and falsity are irrelevant.
