The 'here's an idea' thread.
« on: Wednesday 18 April 2007, 07:13:15 PM »
Your idea can be about anything, but it must bring some benefit to people or business.

My idea is:

Airlines encouraging people to fly without hold luggage (just small hand luggage). The airline would offer a discounted ticket which would be the primary  benefit to the passenger. The airline would save on fuel (less weight) and there would be need for less labour time and costs for all the baggage.
Fuel and time saving (less check in/baggage/security staff) for the airline. Needs to be worked out obvioulsy, but feels like a win/win to me.

Your ideas?

"I'm a competitor and I want to play every game, every minute. The manager knows what I'm thinking. He knows I want to play. He makes his choices and I have to respect them."But it's true we don't share quite the same philosophy. For him, it's more crosses, a bit of a more direct style, whereas I'm more the kind of player who likes to play short passes.
"I like to pass and move.. .."That is the kind of football I like. That's the philosophy I learned at the French academy at Clairefontaine." HBA

Would it be possible to install massive windmill-style fans over any tower that emits hot gasses, turning the blades and therefore generating electricity?

Also, Building Regs should be revised to include rainwater collection/filtration systems as part of all new roofs/replacements as a legal requirement.

Nice ideas....Bit like your first one..I always wondered why they didn't put small water turbines in all those fast rushing sewers under major cities.

Not my idea, one of my friends, everyone said it was s*** but I quite liked it:

On your birthday, you get everyone you care about (friends/family) a pressie like a CD or something, it would cost quite alot, i know, but no more than it would thoughout the year if you bought all those people birthday presents. Only this way you get a steady supply of presents throughout the year from all your friends on THEIR birthdays! a new CD or a belt or a tee-shirt every month or something.

I think it'd be ace, anyway. (birthdays are all about the pressies!)

whaddaya think? :D

Could change the world, Jim...
You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger.
We ourselves are responsible for our own happiness and misery. We create our own Heaven. We create our own Hell. We are the architects of our own fate.
Student says " I am very discouraged. What should I do?" Master says, "encourage others."
We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world.
It takes a wise man to learn from his mistakes, but an even wiser man to learn from others.
This is what should be done. By one who is skilled in goodness, and who knows the path of peace: Let them be able and upright, straightforward and gentle in speech. Humble and not conceited, contented and easily satisfied. Unburdened with duties and frugal in their ways. Peaceful and calm, and wise and skillful, not proud and demanding in nature. Let them not do the slightest thing that the wise would later reprove.

Apart from the sick pay one, all of those are complete bollocks.

Mandatory bi-annual advanced driving tests.

Hilariously half-baked.

Over a million people take a driving test each year. You're suggesting every registered driver - over 32 million of 'em, take a test twice a year.

So if you have to book a test four weeks in advance now, you'd have to book it five years in advance with your grand scheme. Unless thousands upon thousands of extra driving examiners appear from nowhere.

Edit: The roads would be empty for years, and they'd have to improve public transport. I've changed my mind - It's genius. ;D

Vic's out of touch with the real world. His little lego men drive their space buggies happily and he'll test them periodically.
