I've no idea what classifies being "English" anymore. I know what being "Scottish" is all about but the English have got absolutely no separate identity of their own it seems. So many English people seem to have got "British" tangled up with Englishness. For that reason alone, Scottish independence would be a good thing as it would force England to rethink their cultural/national identity for the modern world. Funny as hell when it boils down to the archetypal icons of Sunday cricket on the village green, Morris dancers and dancing round the maypole - after that what have you got?  ???

f*** off man, just because you wear a kilt and eat Haggis doesnt mean you have a monopoly on culture. The inventors of football (?), rugby and cricket also provided the world with Shakespeare, stick that in your pigs bladder.

A pint and a fight, a great British night.

"I took the decision to resign in September 2008 only after very careful and anxious consideration. The decision to resign was one of the most difficult decisions that I have ever had to take in my life. I believe that anybody who knows me and my attachment to Newcastle United and the North East in general will understand how difficult this must have been. I very much hope that the decision of the Tribunal now confirms why I felt that I had no option but to resign from the position as Manager of the Club that I love."- Kevin Keegan speaking on 02/10/2009

Badly cluttered forums are a disease, HTT's the cure is what I say tbh.

Also glad to see the usual level of consistency by Mods regarding flouting of the rules - quite what they are there for, I don't know? :crazy2:

Wtf are you on about? Instead of making glib statements can you point out exactly what you are offended by?

Certainly, I believe there is a rule on Bigotry and if the opening statement in this thread doesn't flout that rule then I don't know what does?  I actually don't personally have a massive issue with the content of this thread but was questioning more as to why the rules are enforced on what I can see as only a haphazard way.

I also believe I disagree with you as to what constitutes 'glib'.

"England is the world's most hated nation." so said an Edinburgh taxi driver to me one night on my way home from a mate's wedding.

He is of course 100% right.

"Not fuckin British.

My country ENGLAND, has committed many sins, many fuckin sins, but I know one thing, we are just people, fair enough crimes are committed, disgusting crimes, racism is evident, but hand on heart we must be the most tolerant c***s known to man, we're not perfect.  Wor crimes worse than any c*** else???"

No bigotry there whatsoever but by glossing over the content and saying it is, of course makes it true. Point out where i'm wrong.

Possibly 2nd after America? Either way though, I'm not that arsed. Always take people as how they are as individuals anyway, those that don't do likewise can f*** off tbh.

Seriously though, it's like a crowd gathering to listen to a drunken tramp have an argument with an invisible foe, only for a ripple of applause to spread through the crowd when he finally passes out.  "Bravo sir, well said!  I feel you really captured the essence of what it is to be English."

Ban Stevie for this?  How the f*** have the mods come under attack, for this?  I give up.  I only know if we'd banned him 40 PMs, and 3 threads, would all be sent and created within seconds of his banning all calling for this legendary poster to be let back in.  Give us a break, deal with what he's said (like some people have tried to do) rather than have a dig at us.
You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger.
We ourselves are responsible for our own happiness and misery. We create our own Heaven. We create our own Hell. We are the architects of our own fate.
Student says " I am very discouraged. What should I do?" Master says, "encourage others."
We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world.
It takes a wise man to learn from his mistakes, but an even wiser man to learn from others.
This is what should be done. By one who is skilled in goodness, and who knows the path of peace: Let them be able and upright, straightforward and gentle in speech. Humble and not conceited, contented and easily satisfied. Unburdened with duties and frugal in their ways. Peaceful and calm, and wise and skillful, not proud and demanding in nature. Let them not do the slightest thing that the wise would later reprove.

What happened to the Blufinator?  The Bluf I know would have cleaned Stevie's clock with a banning within seconds of this thread going up.  This new Bluf is like Dirty Harry on Prozac. :cheesy:
