In order for the Britons to be released "every vested interest in Iran would need to be satisfied they had not deliberately entered Iranian waters, nor were they spying", the source added.

Stupid backward sand dwelling pricks. As if we were spying on their water in a f***ing tiny little boat. There are already spys over there surely anyway.

I can see it now - Bliar talks tough to Tehran and they say "Fine, we're closing the Straights to oil tankers - let see how your voters like petrol at £10 a litre............"

how would they do that then? is it not part of international waters?

Yes I'm quite curious about this too Rob....How you see it?
"I'm a competitor and I want to play every game, every minute. The manager knows what I'm thinking. He knows I want to play. He makes his choices and I have to respect them."But it's true we don't share quite the same philosophy. For him, it's more crosses, a bit of a more direct style, whereas I'm more the kind of player who likes to play short passes.

I think they have enough weaponry to THREATEN closure - and that's all it needs - the insurance companies will immediately withdraw marine cover on tankers and so they won't go there - Eye rak and Kuwait are buggered and the Saudis have to ship al their oil via Yanbu on the Red Sea - and it doesn't have the capacity so prices go sky high

Depends what Blair decides to do I guess...................

...the old Silkworm is quite nasty too....

Bliar is probably looking at some sort of PR spin as we speak...

right, so you don't see threatening closure of an international stretch of water as the necessary excuse for another coallition?

Iran have been goading the west for some time. This is just the latest instance and comes as no surprise.

I wonder what the appeasniks and apologists would say if Britain kidnapped a load of Iranian soldiers under dubious circumstances and then refused to release them?

Doubt they'd want to be released once they realised they were going to get a free house, a free car, free medical care and a weekly handout......  :cheesy:

always thought it was mother teresa that coined that
Bullshitters misrepresent themselves to their audience not as liars do, that is, by deliberately making false claims about what is true. In fact, bullshit need not be untrue at all.

Rather, bullshitters seek to convey a certain impression of themselves without being concerned about whether anything at all is true. They quietly change the rules governing their end of the conversation so that claims about truth and falsity are irrelevant.

Tony Blair:

"they need to be released very soon, or this will enter a different phase"

 :knuppel2:

According to 5 Live government insiders say this means instead of negotiating privately it'll become a public war of words.  The expert they had on claims military action is out of the question for the moment because we don't have enough of a military presence in the area as so many troops are tied up.  Ms Rice and co are refusing to comment and back us because they don't want the Iranians to ask for their guys the US captured in Iraq as a trade.

well, it may be cold comfort, but i care about all of you! :-*

anyway,  i think condi & frineds are nervous as long-tailed cats in a roomful of rocking chairs about this even though they're trying to play it cool.  the US military is stretched too thin to allow them to rattle their sabres too loudly.

Airstrikes have always been the solution for Iran... never invasion.

If they try to blockade the gulf then the sh!t would really happen.
