Arcade Fire...
« on: Friday 2 February 2007, 10:44:44 PM »
saw them last night @ Porchester Hall in London and it has to be said that they were on FIRE themselves! They did a lot of new stuff which went down well with a few favourites from Funeral thrown in. Whilst the new stuff isn't a million miles away from their earlier stuff, the portents are good for a decent 2nd album. If you get the chance to see them live (they're playing Glasters this year I'm informed :)) take it as you won't regret it.
POWER OUT.

P/S - bumped into Michael Eavis ( with daughter along with Chris Martin & other members of PlayCold) in the pub before the gig. He said that the Stones would'nt be doing the festival this year but that he'd booked Iggy to play ;D

Wake Up is a quality song
“What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.” - Sir Bobby Robson

The new album leaked a week or so ago, not quite as good as Funeral imo. The new version of No Cars Go is fantastic though.

I didn't think the new version of No Cars Go was that different from the old. maybe loses a little with the extra polish, too. the album's okay. Funeral set the bar too high, though.

I was a die hard Funeral fan.

But Neon Bible has grown and grown on me.  It's excellent.

Black Mirror is some opening track.

The glasto version is good.  One of the few highlights at this years Glastonbury.

Dunno about that. There's so much music out there that there's an almost endless supply of good stuff, imo.

Neon Bible is s****, tbh.  Funeral had a few good tunes.

Terribly overrated band, imo.

Hence the Coldplay comment.

All bands have their haters, the most popular bands have the most vehement haters.  And the "overrated" stuff?  I hate that s****.  Should people STOP liking them so their popularity corresponds with their talent?

awesome band
"It is a fact that Kevin Keegan, on appointment on 16th January 2008, agreed to report to a Director of Football and the the Board.
