In the first major unveiling for the 2012 campaign, Sky Sports have revealed their team of pundits, presenters and commentators to broadcast every session from all the season's races next year.

In an eagerly-awaited announcement, the station has confirmed that the hugely popular David Croft will join forces with Martin Brundle in the commentary box for each of the 2012's races, with Brundle on air during every day of each grand prix, dividing his time between paddock, pitlane and commentary box. The flexibility means that former F1 driver Anthony Davidson will be reunited with Croft for commentary duties for each of the weekend's practice sessions.

"In Martin Brundle we have the outstanding F1 broadcaster - on the track and in broadcasting, he's proved it time and again," commented Sky Sports Executive Producer Martin Turner.

"Working alongside him, David Croft is a passionate, experienced commentator and Anthony Davidson can bring great technical knowledge to live practice sessions."

In support, both Natalie Pinkham and Ted Kravitz will scour the pitlane in search of the inside scoop on what's occurring, with Kravitz also co-presenting the magazine show that Sky Sports have also announced will be part of their package.

Ted's co-presenter on the magazine show will be Georgie Thompson, a familiar face to viewers of Sky Sports News, while another familiar face to Sky Sports viewers, Simon Lazenby, will host each grand prix weekend.

And last, but by no means least, broadcasting veteran Steve Rider will stage a series of big interviews with racing legends of the past and present for Sky Sports.

"Ted Kravitz has huge knowledge of the pitlane and paddock and he and Natalie Pinkham will get the information and access our viewers need," added Turner.

"And guiding us through the coverage we have the experience of Simon Lazenby and Georgie Thompson. Each has hosted major sports events, from the British Lions to the Ryder Cup - they have trust and respect."

f***! The guy's jinxed or something.
Players come and go, managers come and go, chairman come and go, and even stadiums come and go. But we, the fans, are always here and always will be. We are the lifeblood of this club and our ownership is in our hearts. Nobody can take that away from us!

Yeah, of the four cars that have been released so far three have that horrible crooked nose, only the McLaren looks good. I really hope it doesn't work, just like that ugly McLaren with the extra wing didn't in the past, an F1 car should be a thing of beauty.

Same nose design on the RB8 as on the others.

Some eagle eyes have spotted there seems to be an opening into the car on the step, possible Newey genius?

Having seen that even Redbull - who usually tend towards a clean non-gimmicky design - have gone for that fugly nose, has got me worried that after a number of years of trying to push the limits too far, McLaren might have chosen the wrong year to play it safe. Alternatively, they might have chosen the absolutely best year to do so, if it turns out that it's a bad idea, but Newey never gets it wrong so I doubt it. :(

Apparently a number of teams have already complained about the Red Bull nose.

Do you know on what basis they've complained? It looks much the same as the rest, except for that opening which no-one seems to know the purpose of.

Apparently something to do with the height from what I've read.  Apparently lots of teams complaining about diffusers etc as well.

Charlie Whiting is actually going to the Jerez test to see the cars.

I've been watching the F1 Channel on Sky. Seems promising, but you can tell its going to be just as annoying as Sky Sports football coverage after a month.

So far coverage seems to flit between insightful pieces of punditry and really pathetic dumbing down. Georgie Thompson is a lovely looking woman, but clearly knows the square root of f*** all about the sport and Fenners shouldn't be anywhere near Formula One programming. Hopefully that'll change after a few races when suddenly they don't feel the need to cater for all the daft lads who have started watching because there's a new channel on their Sky box.

I was a bit sceptical of whether a channel would work, but I've quite enjoyed dipping in and out of the season reviews. I also really enjoyed the F1 Time of Our Lives they had on yesterday evening with Murray, Damon and the tacheless bore Mansell.
"Following media reports this morning the chairman wishes to make it clear that Alan Shearer has never said to him that he would knock seven bells out of anyone."

Anyone been to a GP? What was it like for you?

I've been to two - Silverstone and Montmelo. I was on the pit straight at Silverstone last year and on the sweeping turn 3 in Barcelona right infront of the crash on the first lap! Button went on to win that race and the championship in that Braun GP car.

As a spectacle it's one of the greatest in sport imo. One thing you'll know if you've been to one is that a shift up in the gears is almost always followed by a massive backfire, which you never hear on the TV.

Can't wait for the season to get up and running again.  :fwap:

I'd love to go to one...but haven't.

I know a few people who have and one thing they say is the colours of the cars are far more vibrant than on TV. Is this true?

I went to Silverstone every year between 1998 and 2004. As you say, it's one of the great sporting spectacles. Even though you know that they're very fast cars you get a bit of a shock when you see the speed of them up close. Same goes for the noise. Deafening.

I also went to see Friday practice at Silverstone in 2010 care of Red Bull for some stuff I was writing. I got to swan around the paddock and park my arse in the 'Red Bull Energy Station'. Ended up interviewing a few people, including Brendon Hartely (lovely lad by the way  ), and got a bit p*ssed on the free beer they were throwing my way. Amazing to see how the other half live, if I had the cash I'd certainly follow it around the world.

I know what they mean, there is definitely more clarity when you are at the race but you would expect that in comparison to watching it on TV, even in HD.

You can see much more detail on the cars and in the way they move aswell. It would be great to go to a different race every year, i'm thinking Valencia, Germany or Italy this year hopefully.

Nice! Yeah the noise really is unbelievable. They even give you earplugs when you receive your tickets, but hey, why go to a race and stick earplugs in?

So jealous about the paddock experience, tickets for that over the weekend are well past £2k iirc.

So it looks as though the McLaren is strong with Mercedes pushing them the most. Loving see Ferrari struggle like f***.

The grid is very interesting, with Ferarri doing bad in 16th and 12th, Lotus finish at both ends of the spectrum in 3rd and 17th, and Red Bull doing bad in 5th and 6th which I love, looks like its going to be an open season which is always good. :)

Not sure I'll ever like a car more than I liked that Williams Renault from the early-mid 90s. The Damon Hill Sonic one was class.
